The director of finance will be primarily responsible for facilitating the preparation of the irs form 990 (hereinafter "form 990") in compliance with irs regulations. He/she will work to provide information to the outside auditors for the preparation of the form 990. In advance of the filing deadline, once the form 990 has been completed, it will be submitted to the finance committee for review. After the finance committee has approved the form 990, it will be presented to the executive committee. Once the executive committee has approved it, it will be presented to the full board for review and approval prior to submission to the irs. At each level of review, the copies of the form 990 may be transmitted in either paper or electronic copy.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

Conflicts of interest must be reported immediately; disclosure of conflicts of interest is an essential and ongoing obligation for board members in the course of their duties. If a conflict of interest is identified, it should be discussed with the president and chairman of the board to identify the proper course of remedial action. These actions may range from recusal in any business transactions involving science central or the other interested organization to withdrawing from involvement in the other organization's business or board of directors to other actions that assure the conflict of interest or even the appearance of a conflict of interest may be avoided.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

Science central's executive committee reviews and establishes (or makes a recommendation to the full board for approval) executive compensation on an annual basis, usually in the first month of the fiscal year, based on the following factors: a. Achievement of goals and objectives as established by the executive committee, either through the establishment of such goals and objectives on an annual basis and/or successful implementation of a board approved strategic plan during the just concluded fiscal year. B. A survey of executive compensation for not-for-profit executive directors/presidents in the fort wayne, allen county and northeast indiana area, as such information is available c. Availability of funding as determined during preparation of the fiscal year's budget and approved by the executive committee or full board of directors.

Which comply with indiana's state education standards. Interactive video conferencing allows for these labs and demonstrations to be taught via live-time video conferencing to students nationally and internationally as well. Major accomplishments in 2016-17 more than 93,000 visitors to the center in addition to more than 45,000 impacted by outreach programming. Installed several new permanent exhibits including "mission-e" about simple machines, a generator about electricity production, and a new solar system exhibit. Opened a temporary exhibition, "zula patrol: mission weather," about clouds, precipitation, wind, temperature, and other weather phenomenon, all while applying science processes. We also opened two other temporary exhibitions in 2016; "the nature of things" about ecology, and "bones carnival" about skeletons. In 2017, we will host two temporary exhibitions; on rivers (ecology, commerce, history, and careers), and spiders (anatomy, behavior, and geography). Partnered with all four allen county public school systems, parochial and faith-based schools, home-school groups, the boys & girls clubs of fort wayne, the fort wayne urban league, starbase indiana, boy scouts, girl scouts, league for the blind, and the allen county public library to bring outreach programs to them or to provide them with field trips to science central. Conducted numerous on and off-site science-themed summer camps, filling 1,574 camper spots. We also partnered with the university of saint francis and warsaw community schools to provide some of these summer camps off- site. Hosted the second annual sci-fi central mini-convention on saturday, october 1st. The 960 attendees of all ages were able to interact with star wars characters, partake in star trek and harry potter activities, engage with numerous university speakers, and more. Installed a new hvac system through a grant from the dekko foundation to ensure our visitors, volunteers, and staff remain comfortable while in the building. Held our second annual ghost-themed, adult-only event, "soulless science: ghostly observations" on october 7th. This event is part of our adult event series, allowing those over the age of 21 to come to science central after hours and partake in themed science activities. For a third year, science central won a nationally-competitive grant of 12,000 to host week-long summer science camps for under-served elementary students, funded by gsk pharmaceuticals. This year's theme is "science of sports." hosted the 2nd annual "ipfw day." this free admission day featured presentations and tabletop activities by ipfw faculty, and was attended by 1,100 people. Premiered our science minutes series with pbs39 and sponsored by the pnc foundation. The segments engage young viewers on a variety of science and technology topics. They are hands-on in nature, designed to spark interest in science by sharing how science is a part of their lives in both common and seemingly uncommon ways. They air on wfwa pbs-39 and are available to stream on the pbs39 website. Received a grant from aws foundation to hold 6 special abilities days in 2017. These days are specifically tailored to include participants with physical and intellectual challenges. We make modifications to our programs and exhibits based on the abilities of our visitors. Fundraising activities included the annual whiskey-tasting, golf classic, and mixology gala, which were sold out events in 2016. Partnered with the fort wayne central lions club to provide vision screenings for children at science central. Club members also did public presentations in our demonstration theater on topics covering eye health. Installed eight digital signs in our center through a grant with the indiana office of tourism and development, allowing visitors to stay up- to-date with the programs we offer and upcoming events while visiting science central.
