FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

To provide therapeutic counseling services and domesic violence education and shelter for the victims of domestic violence; to provide education, advocacy, and supportive assistance to the victims of crime, young parents, and parent groups.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Jumping jake club for children diagnosed with adhd with a coinciding education group to discuss and answer questions about the effects of diet and nutrition on mental health; and a therapeutic domestic violence group for women who are dealing with the effects of domestic violence on their mental health.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

Term goals such as financial, housing, medical, mental health and employment. An individualized service plan is created between the case manager and resident to monitor goals. A victim advocate is on staff to provide immediate legal advocacy in the form of civil protection orders, stalking orders, victims of crime compensation information and multiple other referrals. The child advocate is on staff to assist residents with any concern or needs for their children for medical, mental health, school enrollment. The child advocate provides outreach education at local schools for anger management and healthy relationships. The center for new beginnings also provides education and supportive services to our residents in the form of wellness programming, community domestic violence support group, and therapeutic domestic violence support group. Each resident is offered on site mental health therapy facilitated by a licensed therapist from the woodlands. Children participate in a weekly therapeutic activities group (tag) to address issues common to children who have witnessed family violence.

ALSO, SEVERAL THERAPY GROUPS ARE OFFERED TO FACILITATE A CLIENT'S PROGRESS IN TREATMENT. THESE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: HOPE GROUP FOR ADULTS DIAGNOSED WITH DEPRESSION; RISE GROUP FOR WOMEN WHO ARE SURVIVORS OF CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE; MENTAL HEALTH NOS GROUP - A GENERAL MENTAL HEALTH GROUP FOR ADULTS FOCUSING ON POSITIVE COPING SKILLS; JUMPING JAKE CLUB FOR CHILDREN DIAGNOSED WITH ADHD WITH A COINCIDING EDUCATION GROUP TO DISCUSS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT THE EFFECTS OF DIET AND NUTRITION ON MENTAL HEALTH; AND A THERAPEUTIC DOMESTIC VIOLENCE GROUP FOR WOMEN WHO ARE DEALING WITH THE EFFECTS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ON THEIR MENTAL HEALTH.

THE FACILITY HAS THE CAPACITY TO SHELTER 26 WOMEN AND CHILDREN FOR AN AVERAGE STAY OF 45 DAYS. NEW BEGINNINGS PROVIDES ALL OF THE BASIC NEEDS OF THE RESIDENTS AND CHILDREN INCLUDING FOOD, CLOTHING, LINENS AND PERSONAL ITEMS. NEW BEGINNINGS PROVIDES MULTIPLE SERVICES TO VICTIMS TO ASSIST AND EMPOWER THEM THROUGH THE PROCESS OF BECOMING A SURVIVOR. CRISIS LINE/SHIFT WORKERS ANSWER A 24/7 CRISIS LINE AND SUPERVISE THE SHELTER 7 DAYS A WEEK, 365 DAYS PER YEAR. THEY COMPLETE RESIDENT INTAKES. A CASE MANAGER MEETS WITH EACH RESIDENT WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THEIR INTAKE. EACH RESIDENT IS ASSESSED FOR IMMEDIATE NEEDS AND LONG- TERM GOALS SUCH AS FINANCIAL, HOUSING, MEDICAL, MENTAL HEALTH AND EMPLOYMENT. AN INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICE PLAN IS CREATED BETWEEN THE CASE MANAGER AND RESIDENT TO MONITOR GOALS. A VICTIM ADVOCATE IS ON STAFF TO PROVIDE IMMEDIATE LEGAL ADVOCACY IN THE FORM OF CIVIL PROTECTION ORDERS, STALKING ORDERS, VICTIMS OF CRIME COMPENSATION INFORMATION AND MULTIPLE OTHER REFERRALS. THE CHILD ADVOCATE IS ON STAFF TO ASSIST RESIDENTS WITH ANY CONCERN OR NEEDS FOR THEIR CHILDREN FOR MEDICAL, MENTAL HEALTH, SCHOOL ENROLLMENT. THE CHILD ADVOCATE PROVIDES OUTREACH EDUCATION AT LOCAL SCHOOLS FOR ANGER MANAGEMENT AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. THE CENTER FOR NEW BEGINNINGS ALSO PROVIDES EDUCATION AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO OUR RESIDENTS IN THE FORM OF WELLNESS PROGRAMMING, COMMUNITY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT GROUP, AND THERAPEUTIC DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT GROUP. AN INDIVIDUALIZED SERVICE PLAN IS CREATED BETWEEN THE CASE MANAGER AND RESIDENT TO MONITOR GOALS. A VICTIM ADVOCATE IS ON STAFF TO PROVIDE IMMEDIATE LEGAL ADVOCACY IN THE FORM OF CIVIL PROTECTION ORDERS, STALKING ORDERS, VICTIMS OF CRIME COMPENSATION INFORMATION AND MULTIPLE OTHER REFERRALS. THE CHILD ADVOCATE IS ON STAFF TO ASSIST RESIDENTS WITH ANY CONCERN OR NEEDS FOR THEIR CHILDREN FOR MEDICAL, MENTAL HEALTH, SCHOOL ENROLLMENT. THE CHILD ADVOCATE PROVIDES OUTREACH EDUCATION AT LOCAL SCHOOLS FOR ANGER MANAGEMENT AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS. THE CENTER FOR NEW BEGINNINGS ALSO PROVIDES EDUCATION AND SUPPORTIVE SERVICES TO OUR RESIDENTS IN THE FORM OF WELLNESS PROGRAMMING, COMMUNITY DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT GROUP, AND THERAPEUTIC DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SUPPORT GROUP. EACH RESIDENT IS OFFERED ON SITE MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY FACILITATED BY A LICENSED THERAPIST FROM THE WOODLANDS. CHILDREN PARTICIPATE IN A WEEKLY THERAPEUTIC ACTIVITIES GROUP (TAG) TO ADDRESS ISSUES COMMON TO CHILDREN WHO HAVE WITNESSED FAMILY VIOLENCE.
