Mission

Our primary purpose is to promote the recognition of the value benefits and importance of urban trees. We accomplish this through educational outreach planting trees and reaching target audiences of all ages.

Program Services

Collaborated with the Benton Franklin Health District to plant trees near school playgrounds to help educate on and reduce the effects of the Urban Heat Island Effect. This helped facilitate our outreach to youth who were able to plant the trees and helped us showcase the usefulness of trees on playgrounds.$0$4,978
Educational outreach. We were able to host a day long workshop for local jurisdictions in conjunction with the Department of Natural Resources. The workshop offered education on emerging invasive species tree care and disease control. We were also keynote speakers on proper tree care for other community events.$0$1,985
We helped the cities replace their canopies and enhance their arboretums by adding signage and taking part in various tree plantings throughout the year. Our primary service was having volunteers on hand to help with planting and with identifying trees.$0$348

| Explanation:| We updated our Bi-Laws and need to send in the new version and what the changes were: IRS Fm 990 Sch O ARTICLE I - Old Bylaws: Cooperation with the Washington Community and Urban Forest Advisory Councils community forestry interests in Washington. New Bylaws: Cooperation with state and local community forestry groups. ARTICLE II - PURPOSE: New Addition: Providing an online presence and education on local forestry topics. ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP: Old Bylaws: o General membership open to residents of Benton Franklin and Walla Walla counties. o Voting membership consists of the Board of Directors. o Annual meeting in October. New Bylaws: o One class of members initially with possible additional classes via amendment. o Membership qualifications: Attendance at three meetings residency in the Mid- Columbia Basin membership application and state background check. o Voting members are the Board of Directors who hold an annual meeting to elect Officers and conduct other business. ARTICLE IV - BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Meeting Schedule: o Old Bylaws: Meetings as needed but not less than once every two months. o New Bylaws: Monthly meetings between September and May or as needed. Special Meetings: o Old Bylaws: Called by the President or two members with two days notice unless waived. o New Bylaws: Called by the President or two members with two days notice. New Bylaws: Cooperation with state and local community forestry groups. ARTICLE II - PURPOSE: New Addition: Providing an online presence and education on local forestry topics. ARTICLE III - MEMBERSHIP: Old Bylaws: o General membership open to residents of Benton Franklin and Walla Walla counties. o Voting membership consists of the Board of Directors. o Annual meeting in October. New Bylaws: o One class of members initially with possible additional classes via amendment. o Membership qualifications: Attendance at three meetings residency in the Mid- Columbia Basin membership application and state background check. o Voting members are the Board of Directors who hold an annual meeting to elect Officers and conduct other business. ARTICLE IV - BOARD OF DIRECTORS: Meeting Schedule: o Old Bylaws: Meetings as needed but not less than once every two months. o New Bylaws: Monthly meetings between September and May or as needed. Special Meetings: o Old Bylaws: Called by the President or two members with two days notice unless waived. o New Bylaws: Called by the President or two members with two days notice. Authorization: o Old Bylaws: Prior authorization from the Board of Directors President or Executive Board needed. o New Bylaws: Prior authorization of the Officers needed. ARTICLE V - OFFICERS: Officer Roles: o Old Bylaws: President Vice-President Secretary Treasurer Program Project Coordinator and Immediate Past President. o New Bylaws: President Vice-President Secretary and Treasurer. Term Length: o Old Bylaws: One-year term with a maximum of two consecutive years in the same office. o New Bylaws: Three-year term.
