GREAT RIVER CHILDREN'S MUSEUM GATHERED OBSERVATIONAL FEEDBACK AND ENGAGED WITH THE COMMUNITY AT SEVERAL OUTREACH EVENTS IN 2024, INCLUDING UNITED WAY'S LLAMA LLAMA READ-O-RAMA, YIRAN AFRICAN ARTS, JUNETEENTH, CELEBRATION OF FATHERHOOD, GRANITE CITY DAYS LEMONADE ART FAIR, ST. CLOUD AREA FARMERS MARKET, BIG LAKE FARMERS MARKET, HISPANIC HERITAGE FESTIVAL AND AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT OPEN HOUSES. COMMUNITY ART COLLABORATIONS AND EXHIBIT DEVELOPMENT:5 ARTISTS, WHO REPRESENT A DIVERSE CROSS SECTION OF CENTRAL MINNESOTA, HAVE BEEN COMMISSIONED TO CREATE PUBLIC ART PIECES FOR THE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM. A LEGACY GRANT FROM THE ARTS AND CULTURAL HERITAGE FUND IS SUPPORTING THIS WORK. GREAT RIVER CHILDREN'S MUSEUM'S MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR STATION EXHIBIT ELEMENTS ALSO PROGRESSED UNDER LEGACY AND MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION GRANT DOLLARS, ALONG WITH GENERAL DONATIONS. ADDITIONALLY, AN AD HOC TEAM HAS BEEN FORMED TO DESIGN THE FIRST EXHIBIT THAT WILL BE ON DISPLAY IN OUR TEMPORARY GALLERY UPON OPENING. A STATE AWARDED CASH GRANT, TOTALING $7MM FROM THE GENERAL RESERVE FUND AND AWARDED TO GREAT RIVER CHILDREN'S MUSEUM, HAS BEGUN TO BE DISTRIBUTED AND PUT TOWARD CONSTRUCTION COSTS. ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM PLEDGE SUPPORTERS IS ALSO PUT TOWARD CONSTRUCTION AND EXHIBITS EXPENDITURES. PUBLIC FUNDRAISING CONTINUES FOR PROGRAMMING AND ACCESS INITIATIVES. GRCM CONTINUES TO COLLABORATE WITH OTHER GREATER MINNESOTA CHILDREN'S MUSEUMS TO ADVOCATE FOR FAMILIES, CHILDREN, AND PLAY AS A POWERFUL RESOURCE FOR DEVELOPMENT AND BONDING. A VP OF DEVELOPMENT AND VP OF OPERATIONS JOINED THE MUSEUM LEADERSHIP TEAM. THE TEAM WILL CONTINUE TO GROW TO APPROXIMATELY 20 FTES IN EARLY 2025.
