That means providing consumer advocates with the support they need to participate fully and directly in the creation and implementation of laws affecting their access to quality care. It also means making sure that that candidates' positions on health care issues are clear and understandable so that the public can make informed choices.

PART X, LINE 2:

The organization is organized as a massachusetts nonprofit corporation and has been recognized by the irs as exempt from federal income taxes under irc section 501(a) as an organization described in irc section 501(c)(3). The action fund was created as an organization described under irs section 501(c)(4) (social welfare organization) in order to assist with the implementation of the affordable care act (aca). The organization is also exempt from massachusetts state taxes. However, the organization remains subject to income taxes on any net income that is derived from a trade or business, regularly carried on and not in furtherance of the purpose for which it was granted exemption. The organization regularly reviews and evaluates its tax positions taken in its filed returns and recognizes the benefit from a tax position only if it is more likely than not that the position would be sustained upon audit based solely on the technical merits of the tax position. The organization files federal and massachusetts tax returns. The statute of limitations for these jurisdictions is generally three years. The organization has no returns under examination as of december 31, 2024.
