Mission

Our mission is to strengthe the community by offering advanced education and on the job training for adults in the construction industry.

Mission Statement Builders Institute strives to provide quality on the job training for adults in the construction industry and rehab quality affordable homes by providing an honest, fair working relationship with subcontractors, homeowners, and sales people in an atmosphere where families can experience the pride and satisfaction of obtaining a new home. Builders Institute is committed in providing to the community the tools need to be strong in rehabbing homes and construction projects.

Builders Institute (BI) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. BI has been formed to provide a unique educational and vocational experience that will change the lives of adults, as well as help transform the economic conditions in their lives, as well as the economic conditions of the communities in which they live, as well. Builders Institute is creating a "first-of-its kind" results-oriented program that will provide a unique opportunity for Twin Cities metro-area families to obtain affordable housing from the adults who trained in the construction industry. This also allow us to create affordable housing that Builders Institute will provide in today's real estate market. Builders Institute offers an affordable housing program in the Twin Cities metro area in Minnesota. Our program is designed to address the housing needs of the lower or middle income households. Our goal is to develop communities where the major of the community aren't able to buy houses at the market price. Builders Institute will partner with other nonprofit organizations to assist in the home buying process.

Our model is to buy and rehab homes and sell them to low to moderate home owners. We generate revenue through the acquisition and rehab of residential and commercial projects which allows us to provide our students with hands-on-training as well as the ability to earn wages.

But the much-embattled construction industry was not among the sectors adding workers, the state Department of Employment and Economic Development reported. Construction companies in the state shed 1,100 jobs last month. Despite the loss, the sector is still up 4,000 jobs for the past 12 months - a 3.9 percent growth rate. Minnesota has 35,000 more workers overall than it did a year ago, a 1.3 percent growth rate that matches the national rate. The state's unemployment rate, which r emained unchanged at 5.6 percent in June, was much better than the nation's rate of 8.2 percent. A rebounding construction industry is good news for other sectors, too. Providing the right training is key to prepare adults with the tools needs for our construction industry. Builders Institute is ready for the be a contributor to the housing market and community. Ensuring minorities are hired in small and large construction projects Builders Institute and its partners is also an advocate for minorities to be part of large construction projects in the Twin Cities area- for example the Central Corridor Light Rail Line. The District Councils Collaborative of Saint Paul and Minneapolis is an organization working to ensure there was equitable access to jobs. The problem the organization states is that a number of the jobs that will be available require extensive training, and at this point there may not be time for some persons of color to get the training they need, which disadvantages those who need the jobs the most. Builders Institute wants to address this disparity by giving the adult the extensive training and tools need to ready for small and large projects. The phenomenon of racial disparities in unemployment is nothing new, but it's clear the recession has made it worse. Experts place much of the blame on discrimination in education and job training, which they say is partly the result of the state's relatively small minority population.

Builders Institute is creating a "first-of-its kind" results-oriented program that will provide a unique opportunity for Twin Cities metro-area families to obtain affordable housing from the adults who trained in the construction industry. This also allow us to create affordable housing that Builders Institute will provide in today's real estate market. Builders Institute offers an affordable housing program in the Twin Cities metro area in Minnesota. Our program is designed to address the housing needs of the lower or middle income households. Our goal is to develop communities where the major of the community aren't able to buy houses at the market price. Builders Institute will partner with other nonprofit organizations to assist in the home buying process.
