“Research the history of the underground railroad (ugrr) in cass county, and the quaker, african american and other abolitionists who took part. --supported the cass county ugrr wax museum and the michigan history day state wide champions financially and with urscc volunteers. Hosted the wax museum at the bonine house. --collecting and indexing geneaological records for families involved with the ugrr, housing them in a newly created library and research room in the bonine house. --videotaped several interviews with people connected in some way with the ugrr in cass county or the bonine house.”

“Educate the public about cass county and the underground railroad. --held 5th annual ugrr days that incorporated presentations on several aspects of the ugrr and offered guided tours of ugrr sites in the area. --presented powerpoints about the ugrr in cass county and the legacy of the bonine house to several organizations and groups in the region --continued development of our comprehensive website www.urscc.org --created a booklet that gives a short history of the ugrr in cass county. --revamped our 14 site self-guided driving tour of ugrr sites in the area.”

“Restoration of the james e bonine house and carriage house as focal points for telling the story of the ugrr in cass county. --continued restoration on the bonine house, this year completing new window wells and basement windows, restoration of soffit and fascia, adding gutters, foundation tuckpointing, masonry repair on the front of the house in preparation for adding the front porches; stripping, repairing and painting 6 upstairs bedrooms and the hallway, installation of flagstone sidewalk, lampposts and landscaping in front of the house. --began restoration on the carriage house, replacing major beams on south and southwest sides and preparing for foundation repair and restoration.”
