“Our organization promotes systems change toward inclusion for people with disabilities at every level of society. We accomplish our mission by helping people to organize at the grassroots level so they can work together to solve their disability-related problems and by providing information connecting our members to one another and relevant disability and health related services and information. One of Fifth Freedom's most prolific programs is an electronic communication Network. The Network connects not only Fifth Freedom's 22,000+ members to a steady stream of carefully scrutinized disability news and information alerts, it also connects colleagues and consumers affiliated with over 2,100 disability organizations in Indiana each month. Fifth Freedom's information alerts also increase awareness of disability fundraisers, helping other organizations raise thousands in additional donations each year. One of the core values of Fifth Freedom is facilitating increased civic involvement by our members. We host non-partisan voter registration and education opportunities as well as get-out-the-vote campaigns. We promote National Disability Voter Registration Week and National Disability Voter Registration Day, helping hundreds of people with disabilities register to vote each year. Fifth Freedom conducts accessibility surveys and works to make businesses, government buildings, and other public facilities more accessible for people with disabilities. We even make accessibility features more accessible. The Fort Wayne City Clerks office asked Fifth Freedom to help people with disabilities better use accessible parking spaces. Around ten people with disabilities a day were getting ticketed for improper parking. We created an accessible parking guide explaining how to use the spaces. The Clerks Office distributed the guide and is providing a copy to everyone who gets an accessible parking-related ticket. The guide should reduce the number of tickets people with disabilities receive by over 3,000 per year. JobDoozy, Fifth Freedom's electronic job board, grew by several thousand new job seekers. Over sixty thousand people with disabilities used JobDoozy to search for positions with inclusive employers. Fifth Freedom also helps promote disability employment by working together with other organizations, such as the Employment First Self-Advocacy Coalition. Fifth Freedom became a part of the organizations Advisory Committee and helped guide plans and direction for a series of Employment First town halls around the state.”

“Fifth Freedom was notified of a termination in funding from GPC effective March 31, 2020. As a result, the Board of Directors voted to file Articles of Dissolution with the Indiana Secretary of State. The Organization expects to cease operations and to distribute its remaining assets, if any, to a qualified tax-exempt organization by the end of 2021.”
