The nfl draft took place along the benjamin franklin parkway with the support of the city of philadelphia, the philadelphia eagles, the state of pennsylvania, the pennsylvania convention center, the philadelphia museum of art, the franklin institute, the philadelphia convention and visitors bureau, its business development division, phl sports, and a host of other civic and business partners. The 2017 nfl draft had a total estimated economic impact of 94.9m for philadelphia. The nfl draft also helped to support more than 30,000 jobs, which generated 38.5m in personal income. In addition, a total of 7.9m was generated in state and local taxes, including but not limited to, income tax, sales tax and hotel tax. During the three days of the 2017 nfl draft (april 27-29) total attendance was 250,000 which was the highest recorded attendance in nfl draft history. 182,058 were unique attendees, with some visitors attending the event on multiple days. 63% of nfl draft attendees were from out-of-town, with 17% choosing to stay overnight at paid accommodations. From the time the nfl draft was announced on september 1, 2016 through june 30, 2017, the phlcvb tracked more than 2,352 print, digital and broadcast stories about the nfl draft in philadelphia, which included a destination mention of the city. This coverage was secured in local, regional and national outlets and garnered 137.4 million media impressions. Along with a direct impact on the community, the phlcvb foundation, in partnership with the nfl draft host committee and the nfl, supported three legacy projects that will have a lasting, positive impact on philadelphia. One of those initiatives was a 50,000 donation made to the school district of philadelphia to support new flag football programs for the city's middle schools. Another legacy project was a 25,000 donation to urban roots to support sports programming, staffing and equipment at the newly renovated smith playground in south philadelphia. Finally, a 10,000 donation was given to simon's fund in support of its campaign to ensure that youth recreational facilities, including 18 philadelphia police athletic league centers, be equipped with automated external defibrillators (aeds) to aid in cases of sudden cardiac arrest.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4B

In furtherance of those purposes, philadelphia also hosted the 2016 democratic national convention. The foundation was pleased that it was able to provide support to the local host committee for their various welcoming and beautification events during the convention.
