IRS990/Desc0The Ibu Movement Marketplace is a key pillar of our mission to support global women artisans. By providing a marketplace for their handmade goods, Ibu provides a stable source of funds and allows our artisan partners to plan their budgets and hiring capacities. By designing with groups, Ibu is able to expand their markets to a much broader consumer base. Ibu negotiates fair wages with the artisan groups and pays for the product upon receipt, thereby taking on the risk and expense of marketing and sales. Currently, Ibu Movement Marketplace partners with 90 groups in 50 countries. In addition to a brick and mortar store, Ibu offers a robust online shopping experience and presents trunk shows around the US.

These artisans presented their experiences at a panel discussion on November 15 at the Charleston Library Society, moderated by Ibu Founder and Creative Director, Susan Hull Walker, to an audience of more than 100. In the evening, 100 ticket holders dined in small groups at 9 private Charleston homes, enjoying a classic Colombian meal designed by author, chef and food-stylist Mariana Velasquez, based on her publication Colombiana. Following dinner, the patrons strolled to a final destination for dessert and shopping, featuring the handmade artisan designs of the artisan groups represented.
