“Active membership shall consist of a firm that is actively involved in the preparation, memorialization, and disposition of a dead human body. These individual proprietorships, partnerships or corporations will provide full services as identified by their industry and locale, be recognized in his or her community as actively engaged in funeral service, and meet the requirement of any governing agencies. Associate membership shall consist of a firm that meets the criteria of an active membership but whose firm is not located in north america and who has chosen not to be an active member. Alumni membership shall consist of an individual who was associated with a member firm of the organization in good standing and who is no longer actively engaged in any aspect of funeral service.”

“The officers of the organization shall be elected by the membership at its annual meeting and shall consist of a president and a secretary/treasurer, each of whom shall hold office for one year. The directors of the organization shall also be elected by the membership at its annual meeting, to serve for a term of three years. Active member firms of the organization shall be entitled to one vote. No other class of membership shall be entitled to vote.”
