“About the school:averroes high school is a private, faith-based college preparatory high school committed to fostering personal and academic success for its students through effective teaching and learning practices.we believe in a holistic approach to education that nurtures academic, social, and spiritual well-being.averroes high school was founded in 2010 by a group of educators eager to provide a strong option for the muslim youth in the bay area. These muslim educators joined together their classical teaching knowledge with their modern teaching skills along with a constant lens or morality and hope in supporting students for success. It is our goal to support our students with a strong sense of identity and clarity of vision. We believe that personal maturation translates into both academic and social success. Our goal is to help young adults comfortably transition into adulthood with a clear sense of self through knowledge,experience, direction, respect, and support. The school is named in tribute of ibn rushd, the famed philosopher known to the west as averroes (1126-1198). Referred to as the great commentator by st. Thomas aquinas for his authoritative study of aristotle, averroes was a trained master in areas of logic, law, medicine, astronomy, geography, music theory, mathematics, and more, and his work is cited in some of the wests most definitive scholarship.averroes high school serves a need. The teen years are the most formative years of an individuals life, a period of intellectual and moral growth.this generation has been called the anxious generation referring to the impact of screens and social media. During this time, most young adults grapple with identity issues, peer pressure, bullying, depression, and anxiety. Without strong role models, a sense of purpose or a force of spirituality, it is dangerously easy for the average teen to spiral downwards.but with proper guidance and direction, they begin choosing for themselves. Our goal is to provide a space that focuses on academic discipline and prepares students for life.mission statement:to adhere to the highest moral beliefs integrating curriculum with comprehensive enrichment programs in an engaging learning environment. Achievements:- 2024 marks our tenth graduating class of students.- 100% of graduates attend college, compared to the 60% national average- our graduates attended the top colleges in the country such as uc berkeley, uc davis, santa clara- university, purdue university, cornell university, ucla, uc riverside, and nyu.- our graduates have gone onto secure employment at fortune 500 companies such as meta, salesforce, amazon and bain and company.- full time school staff has increased from 1 to 10- increased size of operation: from 9 students to 55+- increased classes offered- formed strategic partnership with ohlone community college, where students receive an average of 30 college credits by graduation - modernized internal operations by integrating new softwares such as salesforce, google suite,- blackbaud, turbotax and other tools to streamline bizops- ahs falcons have grown from parking lot to playoff contendersfuture goals:we would like to purchase our own building and be able to expand our student body and offerings. With our own facility, we would be able to host events, sports games, etc for our students and community and not have to put money into renting facilities. Being able to house all of our students in one building would signifi cantly positively impact the flow and the efficiency of our school days. It would give the sense of home that our students and community deserves and longs for. We are researching offering different tracks for graduation- a two year track, three year track and the traditional 4 year track. We are researching a program that would support home schooled students in their studies and sports and enrichment programs.”
