“Invisible girl project's (igp) process for reviewing form 990 includes a detailed review by the organization's board of directors. The governing body receives an electronic version of the form 990 and all required schedules, as they will ultimately be filed with the irs, for review and approval prior to submission.”
“Invisible girl project's (igp) written conflict of interest policy is regularly and consistently monitored and enforced by the organization's board of directors. The scope of this policy includes igp board members, officers, and members of any committee with powers delegated by the governing board. The policy is designed to protect the organization's interests when considering a transaction that might benefit the private interests of an igp officer or director. Covered persons are expected to refrain from participating in transactions where they may receive a personal benefit. They are required to self-disclose any potential conflicts of interest to the board of directors and must recuse themselves from any deliberations or decisions related to such transactions.”
“The process for determining compensation for invisible girl project's (igp) officers includes review and approval by the board of directors, the use of comparable market data, and documentation of all decisions in the board meeting minutes.”
“Invisible girl project's (igp) governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available to the public upon request.”
“The organization is exempt from federal income taxes under internal revenue code section 501(c)(3) and from state income taxes under similar provisions of north carolina law. For the years ended december 31, 2024 and 2023, the organization did not report any unrelated business taxable income, as defined by the irs, and therefore no provision for income taxes has been recorded. The organization has adopted the provisions of fasb asc 740-10-25, accounting for uncertainty in income taxes. Under this guidance, a tax benefit is recognized only if it is more likely than not that the tax position will be sustained upon examination. The adoption of this standard had no impact on the organization's financial statements. The organization has evaluated its tax positions and concluded that it does not have any material uncertain tax positions that require recognition or disclosure in the financial statements. The organization is subject to routine audits by taxing authorities; however, no audits are currently in progress. The organization believes it is no longer subject to income tax examinations for years prior to 2021.”

OUR MISSION IS TO END THE SCOURGE OF FEMALE GENDERCIDE IN INDIA, AND OUR VISION IS AN INDIA WHERE GIRLS AND WOMEN ARE VALUED AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF SOCIETY. WE DEFINE FEMALE GENDERCIDE AS ENCOMPASSING A RANGE OF ISSUES THAT PREVENT FEMALES FROM THRIVING AND ENVISIONING A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE. THESE ISSUES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, FETICIDE, INFANTICIDE, CHILD MARRIAGE, LACK OF EDUCATION, LACK OF JOB-READY SKILLS, SUPPRESSION OF WOMEN IN HOUSEHOLDS, VIOLENCE, AND THE RISK OF BECOMING VICTIMS OF SEX TRAFFICKING.THE IDEA BEHIND OUR CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM IS THAT, RATHER THAN WAITING TO RESCUE A GIRL OR WOMAN WHO HAS BEEN TRAFFICKED OR HARMED, WE WORK TO PREVENT GIRLS FROM BECOMING VULNERABLE TO SUCH RISKS IN THE FIRST PLACE. BY IDENTIFYING YOUNG GIRLS IN COMMUNITIES WHERE OUR PARTNERS OPERATE, WE ARE ABLE TO BRING THEM INTO OUR CARE. WE PROVIDE NUTRITIOUS FOOD, QUALITY EDUCATION, NURTURING SUPERVISION, COUNSELING, LIFE SKILLS, AND JOB TRAINING. ABOVE ALL, WE OFFER THESE GIRLS A SENSE OF COMMUNITY, SELF-CONFIDENCE, AND GROWING SELF-ESTEEM.GIRLS IN OUR CARE THROUGH THE CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM OFTEN HAVE A REALISTIC CHANCE AT SUCCESS IN LIFE. |

| IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc | 0 | EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT:INDIA IS A COUNTRY WITH A VAST POPULATION. IN 2022, IT SURPASSED CHINA AS THE MOST POPULATED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. UNFORTUNATELY, A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF THE POPULATION REMAINS UNDEREDUCATED OR UNEDUCATED. COMMUNITIES IN THESE AREAS OFTEN CONTINUE TO UPHOLD UNINFORMED TRADITIONS AND PRACTICES. THROUGH OUR YEARS OF WORK IN INDIA, WE HAVE OBSERVED THAT THESE PRACTICES FREQUENTLY INCLUDE A LACK OF VALUE PLACED ON FEMALES. IN MANY COMMUNITIES, WOMEN AND GIRLS ARE VIEWED AS LESS THAN MEN AND BOYS, AND ARE THEREFORE NOT AFFORDED THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES FOR SUCCESS AND WELL-BEING.INVISIBLE GIRL PROJECT'S VISION IS AN INDIA WHERE GIRLS ARE VALUED EQUALLY. AS SUCH, IT IS OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HELP CHANGE THESE REALITIES WHEREVER WE CAN. OUR EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS ARE DESIGNED TO EDUCATE, INFORM, AND TRAIN PEOPLE IN THE COMMUNITIES WE SERVE TO RECOGNIZE - OFTEN FOR THE FIRST TIME - THE DISCRIMINATION FACED BY GIRLS AND YOUNG WOMEN. OUR GOAL IS TO RAISE AWARENESS OF THESE HARMFUL PRACTICES AND TRADITIONS. TACTICALLY, WE AIM TO SEE AN INCREASING NUMBER OF GIRLS RECEIVE AN EDUCATION EARLY IN LIFE AND BEGIN TO DREAM OF A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE - ONE THAT IS LIKELY VERY DIFFERENT FROM THAT OF THEIR MOTHERS AND GRANDMOTHERS.WE ALSO STRIVE TO SPARK CONVERSATIONS WITHIN COMMUNITIES AND INITIATE A TRANSFORMATION IN MINDSET. THROUGH OUR WORK ACROSS VARIOUS REGIONS IN INDIA, WE HAVE SEEN BOTH ANECDOTAL AND MEASURABLE EVIDENCE - THROUGH STUDIES AND SURVEYS - THAT CHANGE IS HAPPENING. IN ONE COMMUNITY IN SOUTH INDIA, A RESEARCH STUDY REVEALED A SIGNIFICANT SHIFT IN ATTITUDES: OVER FIVE YEARS, THE PERCENTAGE OF GIRLS ENROLLED IN SCHOOL ROSE FROM ABOUT 30% TO NEARLY 90%. |

OUR GOAL IS NOT ONLY TO SUPPORT THEIR PHYSICAL WELL-BEING BUT ALSO TO NURTURE THEIR EMOTIONAL AND SOCIO-CULTURAL SENSE OF BELONGING. WHEN A YOUNG GIRL IS BROUGHT INTO OUR CARE THROUGH OUR PARTNERS ON THE GROUND, WE CONDUCT A THOROUGH AND THOUGHTFULLY DESIGNED EVALUATION TO UNDERSTAND HOW BEST TO SUPPORT HER. THIS HELPS US CREATE A REALISTIC PATH FOR HER LONG-TERM SUCCESS, INCLUDING ACCESS TO APPROPRIATE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND, EVENTUALLY, A POTENTIAL CAREER.THROUGHOUT THIS JOURNEY, OUR COUNSELORS AND SOCIAL WORKERS WALK ALONGSIDE EACH GIRL, OFFERING EMPATHETIC GUIDANCE EVERY STEP OF THE WAY. OUR TEAMS INCLUDE SOCIAL WORKERS, COUNSELORS, ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF WHO HELP PROCURE SUPPLIES AND COORDINATE WITH SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES, AND ACCOUNTANTS WHO ENSURE THAT EVERY DONATION IS USED ETHICALLY AND WISELY FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSE.IN 2024, OUR RICE PROGRAM ENSURED THAT GIRLS WERE RESCUED FROM VULNERABLE SITUATIONS THAT COULD HAVE LED TO HARMFUL OUTCOMES; INTERVENED ON THEIR BEHALF WITHIN THEIR COMMUNITIES OR FAMILIES; CARED FOR THEM BY PROVIDING FOOD, NURTURING SUPPORT, AND COUNSELING; AND EDUCATED THEM. WE FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT ACCESS TO QUALITY EDUCATION IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL ANTIDOTES TO THE NEGATIVE OUTCOMES THESE GIRLS MIGHT OTHERWISE FACE. |

USING A RESEARCH-BASED METHODOLOGY, THE PARTNER EMPLOYS A TEAM OF SOCIAL WORKERS WHO TRAVEL TO REMOTE VILLAGES TO IDENTIFY FAMILIES AT GREATEST RISK OF COMMITTING FEMALE INFANTICIDE. THIS PARTNER WORKS CLOSELY WITH FAMILIES IDENTIFIED AS "HIGHEST RISK," PROVIDING PRENATAL CARE TO EXPECTANT MOTHERS AND EDUCATING ENTIRE FAMILIES ON THE VALUE OF GIRLS AS HUMAN BEINGS. THEIR WORK HELPS SHIFT THE CULTURAL MINDSET THAT VIEWS GIRLS AS "BURDENS," CHALLENGING THE PREFERENCE FOR SONS AND PROMOTING AWARENESS OF GIRLS' INHERENT HUMAN RIGHTS. TO SUPPORT THESE FAMILIES, A MONTHLY FOOD RATION (TYPICALLY INCLUDING RICE, LENTILS, AND SPICES) IS PROVIDED TO ENSURE MOTHERS AND DAUGHTERS ARE WELL-NOURISHED.
