“Form 990ez, part iii, primary exempt purpose - the foundation is an educational organization whose mission is to educate young people about the epidemic of noise-induced hearing loss (nihl) and to equip them with the necessary tools to protect their hearing. The foundation partners with public and private k-12 schools, universities and other organizations to educate students and train educators about nihl and hearing preservation so that all young people can learn about this permanent, yet completely preventable, type of hearing damage. Form 990ez, part iii line 28, program service accomplishments: community education: ongoing outreach and education of youth. Publication of an educational childrens adventure book to be used to teach three-to-eight year-olds (and their caregivers) about hearing safety. Book was published in october of 2024, along with free supplemental curriculum and resources for all educators. Form 990ez, part iii, line 29, program service accomplishments: training workshops and classroom presentations for professionals, educators, students, and potential ambassadors (k-12, college, and post-graduate level) including collaboration with miami-dade county, broward county, and other u.s. Public and private schools. Ongoing development and updating of classroom video lessons with separate versions for elementary school students and middle/high school/adult learners. Incorporation of epf education module into m-dcps 4th, 7th, and 9th grade stem classes. All ambassador/educator modules and classroom lessons are narrated and formatted to be used in person, virtually, or completely online. Classroom lessons available in english, spanish, and chinese. Continued expansion of educational outreach to include multiple states in the u.s., international use, and other venues (religious and scouting.) form 990ez, part iii, line 30 additional program accomplishments m-dcps world hearing day programming. Ongoing use of m-dcps expanded hearing screening protocols to include assessment and appropriatereferral of high frequency hearing loss among all 6th graders including a (deferred) m-dcps funding request to expand testing to include all 9th graders. Protect-a-band program with referrals for discounted hearing protection for student musicians and band programming directors.publication of childrens book for pre-k through 3rd grade about nihl and hearing safety )including: writing, illustrating, editing, copyrighting, formatting for ebook, paperback, and hardcover editions.
