City 6 is composed of drexel university, lasalle university, saint joseph's university, temple university, university of pennsylvania, and villanova university. The city 6 extramural classic was founded by representatives from temple university and saint joseph's university as a way to encourage recreational sports and social interaction among the city universities. Tournaments are held at venues throughout the area, including some of the best collegiate facilities in the city such as the palestra, villanova football stadium and saint joseph's alumni hall. The extramural classic is a frequent focus at regional and national conferences and serves as a model for other programs and institutions.
