The Board of Directors reviews the financial and narrative information provided in Form 990 and its relevant attachments. The board ensures that the information provided is in compliance with the organizations mission and its tax exempt purpose. Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part IV, Line 14A

John De Margheriti, President and Treasurer and Vicki De Margheriti, Vice President and Secretary, and whom are the Board of Directors of AIE - LA operate from the campus of The AIE Ltd. in Canberra, Australia.

Financial Statement Notes

Schedule D, Part VI, Line 1D

AIE- LA uses straight-line depreciation on fixed assets as follows: Computers and computer equipment - 2 years; Software - 3 years; Furniture - 5 years.

Schedule D, Part X, Line 2

U.S. GAAP requires the Organization's management to evaluate tax positions taken by the Organization and recognize a tax liability if the Organization has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would be sustained upon examination by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). The Organization has analyzed the tax positions taken by the Organization and believes there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability or disclosure in the consolidated financial statements. U.S. GAAP also requires that all entities disclose the years for which its tax returns remain open for examination by the IRS. The IRS does not require the Organization to file tax returns on Form 990, "Return of Organization Exempt from Income Tax". However, the IRS could audit the Organization; should this occur, presumably the IRS would do so with respect to years no earlier than 2014.

Schedule D, Part XI, Line 4B

The following expense amounts have been netted against gross revenue presented in 990 Part VIII Line 12: $73,238 scholarships awarded, $2,010 other revenue, ($669) Bad debt.

Schedule D, Part XII, Line 4B

The following expense amounts have been netted against gross expenses presented in 990 Part IX Line 25 Column A: $73,238 scholarships awarded, $2,009 other expense, ($669) Bad debt.

IRS990/Desc0Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development - Game Art & Animation (1600 hours/2 years, CIP Code 11.0803): The Advanced Diploma of Professional Game Development - Game Art & Animation was developed in response to industry needs and driven by extensive consultation with local and international game development studios. The Advanced Diploma is a two-year full-time course, focused on getting students to meet or exceed industry expectations to gain employment with a development studio or to develop their own independent games. Game artists design the environments, create the characters and craft the vehicles for the games that you love to play. They can specialize in modeling, texturing, animation, and level design. Game art development is a dynamic medium to showcase creative ability. Students work with other artists and programmers to design and create their own unique entertainment experiences using cutting-edge game technology. AIE - LA and the Game Art & Animation course celebrated its fifth graduating class in this subject, producing 14 industry-ready graduates. In addition, 18 completed their first-year of the course and are expected to graduate in June 2018.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActyOtherGrp/Desc0During the fiscal year, AIE - LA delivered 15 weeks of Summer Camps to approximately 150 high school students. AIE - LA in collaboration with Louisiana State University (LSU), University of Louisiana - Lafayette (ULL), and Delgado Community College made these camps available to students entering grades 9 through 12. Summer Camp is geared toward high school students seeking knowledge in 3D animation and computer programing for video games. Camps are one week in length and promote school exposure to the community it serves, and is an introduction to courses students will enjoy at the college level. Successful Summer Camps are important to the school's purpose and mission as they are often the first contact students have with the school and its staff.
