Promotion is/will be accomplished via various methods including: direct contacts with legislators and regulatory personnel by the board of directors, governmental affairs committee-persons, and members; letter-writing campaigns; social media, pod-casting, and other web-based communication strategies. Education/workshops/conference. A. Industry-directors have held two educational conferences (september 2011 and september 2012) and will continue to plan and hold additional events of this nature. Sessions will include best industry practices and professional advocacy. B. Public-directors will provide information to the public related to regulations and business practices that limit choices, reduce access, and increase prices in the industry. Such information will focus on promoting the high-quality standard of care available through independently-owned dme/hhc providers. Website www.mipaforchoice.net was established in june 2010 as a beginning to both the advocacy and education processes. Additional public education efforts will be forthcoming. Newsletter. Mipa has developed a digital newsletter for members and the public to reflect mipa's main goals (advocacy and education). The newsletter is sent monthly or as needed/requested by the board of directors. Advertising has not been accepted but may be accepted in the future. Membership meeting. The association holds annual membership meetings in conjunction with its annual educational conference. Additional meetings of the membership are held at the discretion of the board of directors and with appropriate notice to members.”
