“The mission of the corporation is, that: we are committed to the public welfare of new mexicans through the establishment of quality, competency- based certification programs for professionals engaged in the prevention and treatment of addictions and related problems. Our objectives are to create and maintain a community-based support system for behavioral professionals. To administer oral and written examinations, to evaluate candidates and to issue credentials to behavioral health professionals. To provide resources and continuing education to behavioral health professionals to enable them to expand their knowledge and improve their skills. To review complaints of unprofessional and unethical conduct by practitioners and to impose sanctions when appropriate.”

“In response to covid-19, the following was done to better serve our constituents. (1)contracted with certemy to create an online application & certification tracking system for all nmcbbhp credenetials. (2)contracted with prometric/smt to create an online exam process for all with an option for in-person exams proctored by prometric/smt. (3)moved all nmcbbhp meetings to a zoom platform. Updated the code of ethics for the certified peer support worker credential. Expanaded the number of cpsw board members to better represent more than 400 cpsws credentialed. Approved three cpsw specialty endorsements: certified older peer specialisst, certified veterans peer specialist and certified supportive housing peer specialist. Workked with the nm children, youth and families dept and nm state univeristy to create a new creditial for certifiedyouth peer suport worker. Collaborated with the nm office of peer recovery and engagement and the nm dept of corrections to train, test, and certify ten inmates at the central nm correctional facility in los lunas, nm as certified peer support workers (cpsw). New mexico is one of two states that offer this option for cpsws.”
