“Bay area stage productions is a small, non-profit community theatre company serving vallejo, a city of 118,837, & beyond. With the exception of musicians employed for musicals, bas is all volunteer-based. Actors, directors and behind-the-scenes people are given opportunities to hone their theatre skills or, if new to the art of theatre, learn new ones. As well as being an avenue for people to express their creative sides, in 2015, bas began a young actors theatre program for children ages 5 to 17 years of age. The 9-week workshop focuses on acting, dance and voice, and concludes with a weekend of performances, whereby the student applies what they have learned. Participation in the children's workshop and on any production, whether young or old, undoubtedly boosts confidence, self- esteem and poise. Young performers learn responsibility and even the shyest of performers become better communicators. On either side of the footlights, those involved represent a diversity of age, culture and life experience. Bay area stage productions celebrates the essential power of the theatre to illuminate our common humanity. We entertain, educate and enrich the culture of our diverse community, train and support the next generation of theatre artists, and provide arts education to inspire life-long learning.”
