During the year, jvhi assisted individuals and families to purchase a "governor's home" that jvhi obtained from the south dakota housing development authority and completed the newly constructed homes for occupancy. The homeowner must meet elgibility criteria based on household income and must attend home ownership classes that are provided by the organization. Assistance is provided for the individuals and families to obtain grant funds and financing for the homes constructed by jvhi which are available to low-income families. The grant funds can be used towards a down-payment and closing costs.
