The Institute in 2013 commissioned Washington Employers to research market pricing and conduct a market analysis for the Institute's Executive Director role. This information was presented to the Institute's Board of Directors and was evaluated in the process of determining the Executive Director's compensation. The Board of Directors approved the Executive Director's salary.

The technical assistance services included workshops, site assessments, walking audits, technical training, stakeholder interviews, capacity-building presentations, reports, policy development, plan review, communications plans, photo-visions, renderings and related activities. The Institute directly reached at least 4,450 people with these services.

Institute team members presented at 20 general-attendance conferences, college and high school classes, and national webinars, directly reaching about 2,000 people. Institute staff also developed educational tools, guidance documents, illustrative graphics and other resources that were distributed for free to anyone wishing to receive them, estimated at about 7,000 people in 2013. The Institute also operates a "community help desk," which assisted 150 people in 2013 by responding to their email or phone inquiries to provide resources, recommendations and best practices. The Institute also shared educational information weekly with its 4,000 Facebook followers and monthly with its 2,000 newsletter subscribers.
