Mission
The heart initiative is a non-profit organization created in 2009 whose mission is, through research, to increase public awareness and knowledge of cardiovascular diseases particularly heart failure and improve the early diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, through increasing usage of proven therapies and improving adherence.
Heart initiative, (f/k/a african heart initiative) (the "corporation") is a non-profit organization created in 2009. Originally, the mission of the corporation was to collaborate with cardiovascular leaders in africa to improve the early diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and heart failure in sub-saharan africa, particularly increasing usage of proven therapies for heart failure and improve adherence.through the course of its work, the corporation's activities and research have evolved. The corporation has partnered with momentum research, inc., lariboisire hospital in paris, and roche diagnostics to examine other aspects of early diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, specifically heart failure, beyond africa.

“Heart initiative, (f/k/a african heart initiative) (the "corporation") is a non-profit organization created in 2009. Originally, the mission of the corporation was to collaborate with cardiovascular leaders in africa to improve the early diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases and heart failure in sub-saharan africa, particularly increasing usage of proven therapies for heart failure and improve adherence. During 2020 the heart initiative continued its scientific mission to improve heart failure therapy globally through two main avenues: 1. Publications and sharing of data from studies completed the heart initiative has worked trough its volunteers and outlets to analyze data from studies completed in previous years and share them with the scientific community. Such examples are highlighted in the links below - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33247624/ . Other data were shared among the contributing members of our research organization 2. Performing studies to promote better heart health globally the ehart initiative has continued to sponsor its largest study to date the strong-hf study which is aimed at better implementing cheap, generic therapies in patients after and admission to a hospital for heart failure. During 2020 the heart initiative ahs secured additional sponsorship from roche diagnostics to enable expanding the study to up to 1,800 patients and continued to recruit patients to the study globally in europe, south america and subsaharan africa. 3. The heart initiative as with its partners at isnerm in paris promoted projects to explore the cardiovascular effects of covid 19 in patients admitted to intensive care units. Additional efforts to start more such initiative as the thesus hf study, behaeft or strong are underway. Some of those efforts were slowed due to the covid-19 epidemic.”

DURING 2020 THE HEART INITIATIVE CONTINUED ITS SCIENTIFIC MISSION TO IMPROVE HEART FAILURE THERAPY GLOBALLY THROUGH TWO MAIN AVENUES: 1. PUBLICATIONS AND SHARING OF DATA FROM STUDIES COMPLETED THE HEART INITIATIVE HAS WORKED TROUGH ITS VOLUNTEERS AND OUTLETS TO ANALYZE DATA FROM STUDIES COMPLETED IN PREVIOUS YEARS AND SHARE THEM WITH THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY. SUCH EXAMPLES ARE HIGHLIGHTED IN THE LINKS BELOW - HTTPS://PUBMED.NCBI.NLM.NIH.GOV/33247624/ . OTHER DATA WERE SHARED AMONG THE CONTRIBUTING MEMBERS OF OUR RESEARCH ORGANIZATION 2. PERFORMING STUDIES TO PROMOTE BETTER HEART HEALTH GLOBALLY THE EHART INITIATIVE HAS CONTINUED TO SPONSOR ITS LARGEST STUDY TO DATE THE STRONG-HF STUDY WHICH IS AIMED AT BETTER IMPLEMENTING CHEAP, GENERIC THERAPIES IN PATIENTS AFTER AND ADMISSION TO A HOSPITAL FOR HEART FAILURE. DURING 2020 THE HEART INITIATIVE AHS SECURED ADDITIONAL SPONSORSHIP FROM ROCHE DIAGNOSTICS TO ENABLE EXPANDING THE STUDY TO UP TO 1,800 PATIENTS AND CONTINUED TO RECRUIT PATIENTS TO THE STUDY GLOBALLY IN EUROPE, SOUTH AMERICA AND SUBSAHARAN AFRICA. 3. THE HEART INITIATIVE AS WITH ITS PARTNERS AT ISNERM IN PARIS PROMOTED PROJECTS TO EXPLORE THE CARDIOVASCULAR EFFECTS OF COVID 19 IN PATIENTS ADMITTED TO INTENSIVE CARE UNITS.
