“Our mission is to engage and partner with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities and their families. We use a cultural brokerage model to navigate services, provide specialized programming, and advocate for systems change.”

“Family support systems: these programs empower families and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (idd) by providing culturally and linguistically responsive support to navigate complex systems. It reduces barriers to services, builds confidence in advocacy, and promotes independence through personalized planning and education on rights and benefits. Core services include one-on-one navigation, language and cultural support, referrals, and system change advocacy. The program is built on a foundation of cultural competency, multilingual capacity, strong partnerships, and ongoing staff development, with a deep understanding that existing systems often exclude marginalized communities and require thoughtful, adaptive support. We are currently working on and iep mini conference to support a 3-session series in iep process, advocacy and navigation. We also hold community cafes to support community development, networking and resource sharing to support the community in their own language and cultural perspective.”

“Civic engagement: these programs equip individuals with disabilities and their families to become skilled advocates and civic leaders. It fosters self-advocacy, disability pride, and policy engagement, while supporting families in navigating systems and building coalitions. At its core, the program drives inclusive policy reform and systemic change through community connection and leadership development. (salt) we just finish our 4th cohort of self advocacy leadership training. A leadership course designed by and for multicultural people with idd/dd. We also completed our first developmental disability conference which created a protected and inclusive space where culturally and linguistically diverse advocates with i/dd, their families, and supporters, can gather, connect, and engage meaningfully. In this space, the experiences, wisdom, and needs of these precious community members will be centered”
