Mission

Rock Cancer C.A.R.E.'s mission is to reflect Christ's love by serving cancer patients, survivors, and their families with tangible assistance and spiritual support. We do this by providing prayer and group support, direct assistance, meals, house cleaning, and financial assistance.

Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Rock Cancer C.A.R.E. provides transportation for cancer patients while obtaining medical treatment. Our volunteers drive cancer patients and their caregivers 7 days per week to chemotherapy, radiation, suregery, doctor appointments, and any other type of medical treatment. While volunteers sit with patients, they provide lunch and/or snack if they will be at the hospital for long periods of time. Volunteers drive patients to get prescriptions, to the grocery store, to support groups, and any other errands. We also provide financial assistance for rent, utilities, prescriptions, groceries, cancer-related needs, clothing, gas, and other miscellaneous needs that cancer patients have. We provide financial assistance for tutoring for child cancer patients, taking care of pets, and other financial hardships that a family may experience while an immediate family member fights cancer. We pay for and deliver groceries, wheelchairs, Christmas gifts, and Christmas trees. Volunteers visit patients in hospital to pray with them, bring them Bibles, reading material, arts & crafts supplies, and toiletries. Volunteers pick up patients' laundry when they are hospitalized for long periods, and bring them special food if allowed. Volunteers also bring patients snacks and decorations for hospital rooms.$49,019-

Client Note 1 - Penalty Non Assessment RequestIn spite of exercising ordinary business care and prudence, the organization was unable to timely file this return and requests non-assessment of any late filing penalties.It is due to significant health concerns of the organization's leadership that this filing is late. During 2013, the organization's CEO began receiving chemotherapy for multiple myeloma. After receiving two bone marrow transplants, the cancer returned. Since the cancer's return, the organization's president has received three courses of chemotherapy. These treatments continue to present and will be intensified soon.In addition to the organization's CEO being diagnosed with a particularly difficult-to-treat form of cancer, during generally the same timeframe, another organizational trustee was diagnosed with and began treatment for breast cancer.We exercised ordinary business care and prudence. What we were unable to do was to exercise EXTRAordinary care and prudence in the conduct of our affairs, including our return filing obligation.As a group of dedicated volunteers, we fell behind because we became the very people our organization is designed to help. We fought, and are fighting, life-impacting battles against cancer.We would be unable to continue to carry out our exempt charitable purpose were we to be required to pay late filing penalties. We would be deeply grateful to have no penalties assessed regarding the late filing of this return.Thank you for your consideration.
