“Prior to FY2020 Responsible Sourcing Network Inc RSN conducted all of its exempt activities including fundraising as a fiscally-sponsored project of As You Sow a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation IRS EIN 94-3169008. RSN did not incur income directly and therefore filed e-postcards annually showing revenues of $0. In 2009 the decision was made by the incorporator in consultation with the proposed initial directors of RSN to incorporate RSN as a tax-exempt nonprofit corporation with the intention to expand the scope of its exempt activities to the point that RSN would be in a position to graduate from the fiscal sponsorship of As You Sow and operate independently. In February 2021 the RSN Board reviewed the status of RSN and decided it was time to "graduate" RSN from the As You Sow fiscal sponsorship and operate independent. To ease the transition the CEO Patricia Jurewicz is remaining on As You Sow's payroll for 18 months but performs all activities for RSN through a Secondment Agreement. As a fully independent and activated organization RSN continues the activities and services it was conducting as a fiscal project of As You Sow and that fulfill upon RSN's mission to foster global supply chains that are accountable toward the people and natural habitats they impact down to the raw commodity level. These activities include building responsible supply chain coalitions of diverse stakeholders including investors companies NGOs academic institutions trade associations human rights advocates and other interested individuals. Currently RSN works with network participants to leverage their influence in the areas of conflict and other minerals such as cobalt from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and forced labor in the cotton fields of Uzbekistan Turkmenistan and other countries to create positive change for brands consumers and the impacted communities.”
