“Teatro paraguas promotes hispanic, latino, and chicano poetry, literature and theater through educational activities and bilingual theatrical presentations of classic, contemporary and original works, celebrating the history, richness and diversity of hispanic and latino cultures. Teatro paraguas has produced various shows, facilitated the development of new shows and provided a venue for productions by guest companies, poetry readings, and music concerts. During the fiscal year ended june 30, 2020, teatro paraguas completed the following productions: word over all: walt whitman and pablo neruda, a poesa viva production created by dan bohnhorst (aug. 30-sept. 8 2019) elliot: a soldiers fugue, by quiara alegria hudes (sept. 30-oct.13 2019) el dia de los muertos v community celebration (november 2-4, 2019) a musical piata for christmas viii december 18, 2019) hummingbird, by alix hudson(february 6-23, 2020) teatro paraguas also hosted many guest productions, poetry readings, play readings, concerts, and workshops during the fiscal year.”
