“Part III Exempt Purpose: VIP Education Fund (VIPEF) is a nonprofit Arizona Corporation whose mission is to provide education for citizens on aspects of effective leadership as well as participation in public forums and civic organizations. Part III Line 28 Statement of Program Accomplishments:This training includes relationship building, developing organization ability, planning and implementing development strategies, conducting research and group problem solving. VIPEF initiates and creates materials for training and education of citizens, enabling them to manage programs for improvement of their lifestyles, the betterment of their communities and shaping of public life.Recent Highlights 2019-2020: Civic Academies: VIP Education Fund (VIPEF) leaders conducted civic academies in member institutions, teaching about the states broken budget and the effects on the economy and on education, healthcare, safety net programs, immigration and asylum concerns, workforce training, affordable housing and issues aroundFaith Leaders Public Policy Institute: VIPEF conducts an eight-session training and information series for a cohort of VIP clergy and institutional leaders. Each session features a key policy issue or concern facing Arizona families and communities. Workforce Development: The VIPEF workforce action team developed and updated the information sessions about expanded opportunities with Arizona Career Pathways, a workforce development strategy designed to move participants into family wage jobs.Education: VIPEF leaders developed and taught civic academies on school finance and learned to explain to voters the importance of local ballot measures for school budgets. VIPEF continued to develop the seminar with research from Arizona State University professors on the impacts and implications of standardized testing, presenting it to new teacher groups across the city. Immigrant Integration: VIPEF conducted Congregational Development sessions with immigrant leaders in local congregations in Spanish. The training covered skills in leadership and organizing for congregation and community.Justice Reform: As part of the Justice Reform Team, leaders develop the skills of research by meeting with officials in the courts and prison system. They apply the knowledge gained in these interactions by developing civic academies to teach the issues and concerns in these criminal justice systems. Water: A team of VIPEF leaders conduct research on issues of water use, water rights and the future of water in Arizona. Out of this research leaders have developed a civic academy to teach critical Arizona water issues.Clergy Meetings: In monthly clergy retreats, clergy received training in issues affecting families in their congregations and how to address divisive public policy issues in their congregations. VIPEF leaders briefed clergy on their work on issues. During the early months of the pandemic, clergy met more frequently to discuss the challenges congregations were facing. Leadership Training: VIP Education Fund held leadership retreats and Leader Training Meetings both in person, and during the pandemic virtually, for approximately 800 leaders during 2019 and 2020. New and experienced leaders learned the skills of institutional organizing and developed strategies for working on key issues in their regions. In the early weeks of the pandemic leaders learned how to conduct extensive outreach into their institutions to check on the health and well-being of their members. They were trained to use virtual tools to conduct small-group house meetings to learn about the pressures on families and individuals, as economic conditions forced many families into crisis.”
