“THE ORGANIZATION'S PRIMARY EXEMPT PURPOSE: Improving the education and well-being of South African communities by advising and offering support to successful grassroots organizations that advance opportunities in South Africa. In furtherance of the foregoing, the organization has focused on the young people living in the impoverished community of Philippi, Cape Town, South Africa. LINE 28: The Resource Access Programme (RAP) operates in 12 schools in Philippi, serving more than 4000 students each year, and works to build resilience and agency so that young people are aware of the community resources around them and empowered to seek help they need to stay in school and thrive. Grants totaled $51,265. LINE 29: The Community Solutions project works to improve the quality and accessibility of community services in Philippi, working both with service providers and those who access services to create relevant accessible systems of support. Through cooperation with government nonprofit service providers, projects include "Safe Space," which supports the sexual and reproductive health of some 7000 youths, and a skills development program serving approximately 1000 young women per year. Grants totaled $76,898. LINE 30: The Shared Measures project collects and analyzes data from the community, young people, and challenges they face. Shared Measures is a system of community accountability to ensure that the entire resource network is all using the same metrics to assess the impact of programs and services on the young people of Philippi. This project benefits about 250 people in the 80 community service organizations adopting these measures. Grants totaled $42,721.”
