“Fundraising for Upper Chesapeake Residential Hospice House, Inc. In addition, there will be need for ongoing cash donations to help provide financial assistance on a sliding scale based on need and ability to pay. UCRHH will encourage planned gifts or bequests in an effort to build a base of support that will ensure that there is access to care for all individuals in the final stages of their illness regardless of financial circumstances and resources available for ongoing Residential Hospice House operations and potential expansions.”

UCP is a title holding company and has received a determination letter from the IRS granting it federal income tax exempt status under Section 501(C)(2) of the Internal Revenue Code. UCHS/UMMS Venture, LLC is a limited liability company not subject to entity level tax. The income earned by the Venture is taxable to the owners of the joint venture to the extent that it constitutes unrelated business income to UCHS and UMMS, the tax exempt members of the Venture. UCHV and Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Land Condominium, Inc. are organized as for-profit entities, are subject to federal income taxes, which are recorded under ASC Subtopic 740, Income Tax. Accordingly, for those entities, income taxes are accounted for under the asset and liability method. Deferred tax assets and liabilities are recognized for the future tax consequences attributable to differences between the financial statement carrying amount of existing assets and liabilities and their respective tax bases and operating loss and tax credit carryforwards. Deferred tax assets and liabilities are measured using enacted tax rates expected to apply to taxable income in the years in which those temporary differences are expected to be recovered or settled. The effect on deferred tax assets and liabilities of a change in tax rates is recognized in income in the period that includes the enactment date. The Venture recognizes the effect of income tax positions only if those positions are more likely than not of being sustained. Recognized income tax positions are measured at the largest amount that is greater than 50% likely of being realized. Changes in recognition or measurement are reflected in the period in which the change in judgment occurs.”
