| IRS990ScheduleO/GeneralExplanation/Explanation | 2 | We managed three additional programs during 2011. *1* The first was a grant-funded attempt to establish an online constituent identity trust framework that would enable citizens across the country to verify the district in which they were registered to vote, and then use that online identity to sign communication that they send to their elected officials as well as those collected by third party websites. The goals of this program would have met all three of our mission goals by improving the political communication ecosystem: (1) more trust between organizations, individuals, and decision-makers would mean more free and open communication; (2) the development of this identity solution would be private sector led and create an opportunity for innovation in the creation of online fora that (2) develop practical solutions to real-world issues; and (3) provide for the exchange of ideas to improve government and public communications. We received a $2500 exploratory grant for this program and our expenses tallied to $1537. *2* The second program was an event and subsequent report with the US Office of Personnel Management. The event focused on the value of transparency for a federal agency and the report was authored by six academics, and edited by us. This program met all three of our mission goals because of the diversity of the attendees at the event. We provided (1) free and open communication between organizations, individuals, and decision-makers; fora between the attendees to (2) develop practical solutions to real-world issues; and (3) for the exchange of ideas to improve government and public communications. We did not receive any funding for this program and our expenses totalled to just over $7. *3* The final program that we managed this year was a visioning event for the US State Department's Office of eDiplomacy and follow through advice on how to use the momentum developed at the event to complete the visioning process by engaging all of the employees. This met two of our mission goals, by both establishing and educating the agency on how to establish (1) free and open communication between individuals and decision-makers; and by holding, and then supporting the agency in their own internal development of a forum for the exchange of ideas to improve the agency (which of course, is part of the government). We received $2,000 from the Office of eDiplomacy for designing and facilitating this process, and our expenses totalled to $844. |
