“Eco has a conflict of interest policy in place that encourages a culture of candor and transparency throughout the organization. Eco's policies and procedures for directors, officers, management, employees, and volunteers state that all parties are to ensure that they ''act in the best interest of the nonprofit organization" and each person is required to disclose all personal interests that may compete with the fiduciary interest of the organization. Every member of the board signs a form yearly that discloses potential conflicts and states that they have not engaged in activities that are prohibited under the policy. The statement must be kept on file and updated annually.”
“Persons employed by engaged community offshoots, inc. In a part-time or full-time capacity except those persons in non-exempt positions will receive a salary negotiated at the time of recruitment that will not be based upon an hourly wage. At the time of hire, new employees will receive a letter of hire, a job description, salary and benefits detail and a copy of the personnel policies. The magnitude of the work assignments and the full scope of responsibility for the position will be fully discussed at time of hire. When determining salaries for our non-profit, 1) the ceo researches and reviews salary data for at least three comparable organizations and makes a recommendation to the board of directors prior to establishing the compensation scale/range for the position.2) the recommendation is then discussed with the entire board, prior to our yearly budget meeting (or as new hires arise) so that all board members understand and weight on our nonprofit's compensation decisions.3) the ceo and any others who may have a stake in the outcome from the final decision are recused from voting to ensure that no one directly involved in setting compensation has a conflict of interest. 4) finally, we include documentation of our compensation decisions when they are made by the board in our meeting minutes, so there is a record of the compensation decision-making process.the board will periodically review and set the ceo's compensation.”
