Governance Explanations

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11B

Copies of 990 are emailed to all board members for their review.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12C

COI forms are reviewed by executive committee. If, by committee, it is decided that there is a conflict, then that person is notified and either removed from the board or given a opportunity to clear up conflict.

Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15

CEO compensation is determined annually by or compared to information available on line and personal negotiation. Compensation is also tied to the grants and partnership under which the organization operates. The process was last used in 2024 and is used annually.

Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19

Governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are available to the public, either by request or through our website under the public disclosures tab.

IRS990/Desc0Facilitator Training and Program Delivery: six training programs in 2024 added 101 facilitators from 22 States, who in turn conducted 36 Annie's Project Programs in 15 states reaching 767 farm women. Average size class was 21 farm and ranch women. APEFW moved to online delivery for training. Program delivery to farm and ranch women was a combination of in person and online delivery. APEFW worked with a third party evaluator, Research Institute for Studies in Education, Iowa State University (RISE) to provide pre and post evaluations documenting program impact. The results showed Annie's Project risk management courses were effective in achieving the goal of improving women's knowledge in all five areas of agricultural risk management: financial, human resource, legal, marketing and production. According to the post evaluation the top three areas of interest were marketing, estate planning and basic financial documents. The full pre and post reports can be found on the Anniesproject.org website.

IRS990/MissionDesc0The mission of Annie's Project-Education for Farm Women (APEFW) is to empower women in agriculture to be successful through education, networks, and resources. APEFW conducts training for facilitators who, in turn, deliver Annie's Project classes using the Annie's Project Methodology which means small groups; safe, dynamic, and interactive class environment, vetted presenters, and unbiased research-based information. A local steering committee formed by the trained facilitator adapts the program to the area of delivery by selecting relevant and specific topics. Core values of the program are safe harbor, shared experiences, discovery, and connection. The result is a confident farm woman with improved business decision-making skills, and a network of peers and professionals to support her and her community.

IRS990/ProgSrvcAccomActy2Grp/Desc0In 2023 Annie's Project entered into a partnership with USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA) on a project called "Building Resiliency with a More Diverse Delivery Strategy, the Underserved Agent/Loss Adjuster Training Program Pilot Program" It aimed to reach producers and individuals that had a livelihood in the space of agriculture. This collaborative pilot program's strategic engagement with minority-serving institutions and underserved stakeholder groups established a pipeline of crop insurance agents and adjusters within the underserved communities. The intent of the program was to increase the underserved representation of insurance agents and loss adjusters providing service to underserved producers. Since 2023 and all through 2024, Annie's Project enrolled 7 agents preparing for their licenses, 3 completed getting/renewing their licenses, and 21 crop insurance adjusters in training for their certification and job interviews with Approved Insurance Providers (AIP). Two agents were hired by local Approved Insurance Providers. Other deliverables for this project 1) Annie's Project invited all AIP's to participate in a meeting to answer questions on agents and adjusters. The following participated in sessions: Advanced Ag Protection, Rain & Hail, Crop Risk Services, Hudson, Agri-Sompo, Federal Crop Insurance Corp. We connected with 14 people from AIPs and National Crop Insurance Services. We also connected with Great American Insurance who reached out to us. We directly connected with 15 different people with seven different AIPs. 2) All adjuster candidates were provided support in resume & interview skills by Annie's Project staff. Some participated in the live workshop. All were provided with written materials from workshop (21 total) 3) Provided training and one on one connections on developing business plans, goals and market plans. Participants either participated live or via recording. We provided training to people with Annie's (29 people) and our partners. 4) Annie's Project hosted a Q & A session for participants to learn more about being an Agent or Adjuster from people who worked for or with AIPs. Potential adjusters had follow-up connections through National Crop Insurance Services job fairs. This project ended Mid February of 2025. The project's agreement number is 2022-RMAPILOT-2.
