IN THE HOME PERFORMANCE WITH ENERGY STAR PROGRAM DEVELOPED BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY AND THE U.S. ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY, THE ENERGY ALLIANCE PRE-QUALIFIED AND TRAINED 17 LOCAL HOME PERFORMANCE CONRCTORS AND 50 LOCAL INSTALLERS. THE LOCAL CONTRACTORS AND INSTALLER WERE REIMBUSED FOR 1488 HOME ENERGY ASSESSMENTS AND 1024 HOME ENERGY UPGRADES. THESE IMPROVEMENTS ARE PROJECTED TO REDUCE THEIR ENERGY CONSUMPTION 15 TO 20 PERCENT ON AVERAGE EACH YEAR. AN ENHANCED CURRICULUM TO BETTER TRAIN CONTRACTORS WITH A WHOLE BUILDING APPROACH WAS ESTABLISHED THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH CINCINNATI STATE TECHNICAL AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE. THE GREATER CINCINNATI HOME ENERGY LOAN PROGRAM (GC-HELP) OFFERS LOW COST FINANCING OPPORTUNITIES TO INTERESTED RESIDENTS. WITH GC-HELP, PROJECTS CAN BE FINANCED TO CREATE CASH FLOW POSITIVE OPPORTUNITES THAT START GENERATING REAL FINANCIAL SAVINGS FROM DAY ONE. IN 2012, 89 LOANS WERE MADE TOTALING $792,817.THE ENERGY ALLIANCE ENGAGED IN COMMUNITY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES TO EDUCATE HOMEOWNERS ON AVAILABLE ENERGY RESOURCES. THESE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE COMMUNITY EVENTS AND WORKSHOPS, MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES, BRAND AMBASSADOR OUTREACH CAMPAIGNS, AND OTHER CREATIVE PARTNERSHIPS. IN 2012, THE ENERGY ALLIANCE CELEBRATED THEIR 1,000TH HOME ENERGY UPGRADE. THIS MAJOR ORGANIZATIONAL MILESTONE WAS SHOWCASED WITH A PRESS EVENT RECOGNIZING THE 7 MUNICIPALITIES WHO SUPPORTED THE PROGRAM AND THE IMPACT THE ENERGY ALLIANCE HAS HAD ON THE COMMUNITY. THE ENERGY ALLIANCE EXECUTED A TARGETED PAID MEDIA CAMPAIGN TO DRIVE DEMAND AND INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE ENERGY ALLIANCE'S RESIDENTIAL PROGRAM. ADDITIONALLY, THE ENERGY ALLIANCE PARTNERED WITH ANOTHER NONPROFIT TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT AN ENERGY CHALLENGE TO LOCAL BUSINESSES. FINALLY, THE ENERGY ALLIANCE ROLLED OUT AN ONLINE COLLATERAL MATERIAL SERVICE FOR OUR RESIDENTIAL CONTRACTORS ALLOWING THEM TO ORDER ENERGY ALLIANCE ASSESSMENT KITS FOR THEIR AUDITORS TO PROVIDE TO HOMEOWNERS DURING THE ASSESSMENT PROCESS.MOVING FORWARD, THE ENERGY ALLIANCE WILL BE EXTENDING ITS FOCUS TO ENHANCING THEIR COMMERCIAL PROGRAM SERVING SCHOOLS, NONPROFIT AGENCIES, AND BUSINESSES. IN 2012, THE COMMERCIAL REIMBURSED CONTRACTORS FOR 25 ASSESSMENTS AND 23 ENERGY UPGRADES. THE ORGANIZATION WILL CREATE SPECIALIZED FINANCING TOOLS TO ASSIST COMMERCIAL SECTOR OWNERS THAT DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH ACCESS TO THE NECESSARY CAPITAL FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY UPGRADES BY PROVIDING INNOVATIVE COMMERCIAL LENDING SERVICES. THE ORGANIZATION WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THE HOME PERFORMANCE WITH ENERGY STAR PROGRAM THROUGH OUTREACH AND EDUCATION, CONTRACTOR DEVELOPMENT, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS. TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE DEMAND, THE ENERGY ALLIANCE WILL UTILIZE EARNED MEDIA TO INCREASE AWARENESS, IMPROVE CONSUMER FACING MATERIALS, DEVELOP NEW FINANCING TOOLS, AND ENHANCE OUR CONTRACTOR SUPPORT PROGRAM.

MANAGEMENT DOES NOT BELIEVE THERE ARE ANY ACTIVITIES THAT ARE UNRELATED TO THE ENERGY ALLIANCE'S MISSION THAT WOULD GENERATE UNRELATED BUSINESS INCOME TAXES. THE ENERGY ALLIANCE HAS ADOPTED THE PROVISIONS OF FASB ASC 740-10-25, WHICH REQUIRES THAT A TAX POSITION BE RECOGNIZED OR DERECOGNIZED BASED ON A "MORE LIKELY THAN NOT" THRESHOLD. THIS APPLIES TO POSITIONS TAKEN OR EXPECTED TO BE TAKEN IN A TAX RETURN. THE ENERGY ALLIANCE DOES NOT BELIEVE ITS FINANCIAL STATEMENTS INCLUDED ANY UNCERTAIN TAX POSITIONS.THE ENERGY ALLIANCE'S POLICY WITH REGARDS TO INTEREST AND PENALTIES IS TO RECOGNIZE INTEREST THROUGH INTEREST EXPENSE AND PENALTIES THROUGH OTHER EXPENSE. IN EVALUATING THE ENERGY ALLIANCE'S TAX PROVISION AND TAX EXEMPT STATUS, INTERPRETATIONS AND TAX PLANNING STRATEGIES WERE CONSIDERED. THE ENERGY ALLIANCE BELIEVES THEIR ESTIMATES ARE APPROPRIATE BASED ON THE CURRENT FACTS AND CIRCUMSTANCES. THE ENERGY ALLIANCE'S INCOME TAX FILINGS ARE SUBJECT TO AUDIT BY VARIOUS TAXING AUTHORITIES.
