“LGBTQIA+ Individuals who are low income / poor / working class, and LGBTQIA+ Individuals with HIV. Programs and services provide opportunities to respond effectively to community needs through network connections and the potential of shared infrastructure. Through partnerships with agencies such as the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, Nationz Foundation, Side by Side, Health Brigade, BetterHelp and others, VAVP is also able to create a network of wraparound services and referrals for those in need. The organization has also increased community response by utilizing various media platforms, with engaging and informational content to include self-care, promoting consent, community mutual-aid, and many other tools connected to promote healthy LGBTQ+ relationships, communities, and individual skills. Direct Support: Providing crucial assistance to LGBTQIA+ individuals affected by state or domestic violence, ensuring they have access to safe housing, financial aid, and emotional support. This includes in person and online court, medical, and resource accompaniment, systems advocacy through partnerships with organizations such as Equality VA who influence policy and anti-discrimination laws, mental health and wellness resources such as support groups and individualized therapy, financial assistance for housing, food and basic needs. Community Education: Offering comprehensive training and education programs to raise awareness and promote understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues, fostering a more inclusive and informed community. This includes programs such as Queer Healthy Love, a six-week healthy relationships skill building course that focuses on individual, interpersonal, and systemic impacts to survivors of violence and the communities in which they live. VAVP also facilitates community conversations that focus on policy, world events, community trauma, etc. Advocacy and Outreach: Supporting young adults, individuals impacted by violence, and those who identify as disabled through targeted initiatives that promote safety, health, and empowerment. VAVP also works within the values of disability and language justice by engaging in principles that focus on intersectionality, leadership of those most impacted, anti- capitalism, cross-movement solidarity, wholeness, sustainability, interdependence, collective access, and collective liberation. Because of the work of VAVP, clients and partners have indicated that they know more about sexual and/or domestic violence and its impacts, have knowledge of concrete support and community resources in times of need, as well as their knowledge of the complexities and the iolence in a LGBTQ+ context, and because of services received, they know more ways to plan for their safety.”

Programs and services provide opportunities to respond effectively to community needs through network connections and the potential of shared infrastructure. Through partnerships with agencies such as the Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Action Alliance, Nationz Foundation, Side by Side, Health Brigade, BetterHelp and others, VAVP is also able to create a network of wraparound services and referrals for those in need. The organization has also increased community response by utilizing various media platforms, with engaging and informational content to include self-care, promoting consent, community mutual-aid, and many other tools connected to promote healthy LGBTQ+ relationships, communities, and individual skills. Direct Support: Providing crucial assistance to LGBTQIA+ individuals affected by state or domestic violence, ensuring they have access to safe housing, financial aid, and emotional support. This includes in person and online court, medical, and resource accompaniment, systems advocacy through partnerships with organizations such as Equality VA who influence policy and anti-discrimination laws, mental health and wellness resources such as support groups and individualized therapy, financial assistance for housing, food and basic needs. Community Education: Offering comprehensive training and education programs to raise awareness and promote understanding of LGBTQIA+ issues, fostering a more inclusive and informed community. This includes programs such as Queer Healthy Love, a six-week healthy relationships skill building course that focuses on individual, interpersonal, and systemic impacts to survivors of violence and the communities in which they live. VAVP also facilitates community conversations that focus on policy, world events, community trauma, etc. Advocacy and Outreach: Supporting young adults, individuals impacted by violence, and those who identify as disabled through targeted initiatives that promote safety, health, and empowerment. VAVP also works within the values of disability and language justice by engaging in principles that focus on intersectionality, leadership of those most impacted, anti- capitalism, cross-movement solidarity, wholeness, sustainability, interdependence, collective access, and collective liberation. Because of the work of VAVP, clients and partners have indicated that they know more about sexual and/or domestic violence and its impacts, have knowledge of concrete support and community resources in times of need, as well as their knowledge of the complexities and the iolence in a LGBTQ+ context, and because of services received, they know more ways to plan for their safety. |
