Michigan reading association sponsors a conference each year. Cornucopia books were provided to participants in the conference. Two registrants also applied for assistance with conference registration expenses and were awarded funds based on their application and how they planned to use the information they learned from the conference. Giving tuesday consisted of distributing "inspire the world:a kid's journey to making a difference" to over 25 libraries. The libraries were encouraged to provide acts of generosity in their communities and promotional kits were available to assist. Ornaments, placemats, and hat trees were some of the inspirations. A partnership was established with michigan pet alliance to introduce the michigan dogs and cats advancing literacy grant. The 2,000 grant inspires shelters to create and implement a new program that involves one aspect of literacy while improving the lives of shelter animals. Bertha's buddies provides notes and cards to individuals needing a word of encouragement. Stickers and encouragement are provided in a mailing to the recipients.”
