“Clubc continues to serve community members who need assistance navigating their way in a culture whose language they do not speak and rules and regulations they do not understand. The bulk of our work this year, as in the past has been our immediate needs services program. Through this program we assist low-income families who come to us for assistance with translation, interpretation, filling out forms, referrals to attorneys or other social service agencies, writing letters, mediation with landlords, etc. In 2015 we served 163 families from benton and linn county. Funding for this facet of our programs came from grants from foundations. Cost: approximately 125 per client. We continued to offer educational workshops for adults, including a workshop series on how to navigate the school system; 10 workshops for hispanic parents on how to understand and become involved in their children's public school. These were funded through foundation grants. Cost: 10,000 our annual community fundraising celebration brought together 300 individuals to enjoy food, music, dance, door prizes, and a community services resource fair. This event promotes the aspect of our mission related to community bridge building and the creation of tolerance and cross cultural understanding. We also had the farmers market tour in both benton and linn counties which brought about 75 families to the corvallis and also to the albany tour. The tour guides led participants to several market booths, offering information about shopping the farmers' market on a budget, the importance of eating fresh and local produce, and how to choose and prepare unfamiliar foods. Families also learned to use their snap program benefits to shop at the farmers market.”
