IRS990/Description02009 Highlights of AccomplishmentsThe following highlights the accomplishments achieved by the San Joaquin Valley Leadership Forum during 2009 and what is the position of the organization going into 2010:Organizational / LegalThe San Joaquin Valley Leadership Forum (SJVLF) as an Unincorporated Association completed the Statement of Organization and Purpose; Bylaws, Strategic Plan and submitted all necessary documentation for filing a Form 1023 Application for Recognition as a 501(c)(3) to the Internal Revenue Service on September 25, 2009. On October 22, the IRS acknowledged by letter the process of determination was initiated, (Subsequently, the IRS made their determination on April 10, 2010).GrantsIn October, 2009 SJVLF was awarded a grant from the Fresno Regional Foundation in the amount of $49,200 to establish the San Joaquin River Stewardship Program. This program includes an education and outreach component for underserved communities in both Madera and Fresno County. San Joaquin River Stewardship Program (SJRSP)In late 2009, the SJRSP was initiated with the following accomplishments:a)1000 square 24'x42' foot greenhouse constructed and 5,000 native plants propagatedb)Web Site established: www.sanjoaquinriver.org c)Clean Water Team and Bio-assessment training for Program Coordinator with California State Water Resources Control BoardOutreach and Development of Partnershipsa)California Department of Fish & Game Stream Alteration Permit issued in October, 2009b)Integration with San Joaquin River Restoration Program with US Bureau of Reclamation initiatedPlanned Activities for 2010a)National River Clean-upb)Cottonwood Creek restorationc)San Joaquin Stewardship River Campd)Development of a Salmon Guide for Educatorse)San Joaquin River Salmon Educators Workshopf)SJR Watershed Stewards Academyg)SJRSP (Canoe) Race for the Riverd)Clean Water Team Training
