Program Services

DescriptionGrantsExpenses
Bright Beginnings Christian Preschool provided a non-denominational early educational program for thirty-seven 3,4 and 5 year old students. The children grew in their awareness of community and government services and demonstrated an understanding of the value of volunteers. The children participated in the Salmon and Trout Enhancement Program (STEP) and helped take care of the salmon eggs working together with the STEP program of Florence. They learned to give back to other not-for-profit community programs. The children learned about the importance of having a healthy supply of food in every home. They learned the importance of developing their own wellness, and the importance of family and community connectedness, and serving others. They learned the value of teamwork, and how to work as a team. The community of Florence - a population of 9,000 plus residents - benefited also from the learning objectives of these students.$54,321-
Preschoolers participated in the Rhododendron Parade May, 2014. Preschoolers raised money by holding a jump-a-thon to plan a float for the Rhododendron Festival. Parent-volunteers built the float. Most of the wood used in the previous years was recycled - which tied into being good stewards of our natural resources. Every child received a hat, goody bag and could participate in a party after the parade. Truck and driver were donated by R&R King Logging and the trailer was donated by RR King.--
Decorated cupcakes in October 2013 for volunteer firefighters. Cupcakes were provided by the advisors. Children in all three classes decorated cupcakes for Florence's volunteer firefighters.--
The students, staff, board members and community liaisons collected almost 75 pounds of food in September and December, 2013 for Florence Food Share.--
The students made special treats in November, 2013 for the Western Lane Ambulance District including a book with words and pictures.--
The children participated in a Leap-a-Thon in April, 2014. Money from the event went to the purchase of graduation caps and t-shirts; graduation parties and graduation treats. Money was also spent on participation in the Grand Floral Parade. All children wore hats and received goody bags. Bright Beginnings Christian Preschool won the Grand Marshall's award!--
Bright Beginnings Christian Preschool granted non-cash scholarship credits to multiple students that needed tuition assistance. Total scholarship in-kind value was $1,100.00.--
In February, 2014 students made Valentines for Spruce Point Assisted Living residents.--
Students worked with the local Salmon and Trout Enhancement Program (STEP)in March and April 2014 and cared for salmon eggs.--
