THIS PROGRAM IS WELCOMED BY SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN HOUSTON AND AUSTIN, WORKING WITH A VARIETY OF CAMPUSES BOTH IN AND AFTER SCHOOL. THE INTENT OF THE PROGRAM IS TO SUPPORT CHILDREN BOTH SOCIALLY AND ACADEMICALLY SO THAT THEY CAN PROGRESS QUICKLY, TRANSITION SMOOTHLY, AND BECOME CONFIDENT COMMUNITY LEADERS. IN THE PROCESS, THE PROGRAM ALSO SUPPORTS TEACHERS AND STAFF BY PROVIDING SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION AND INDIVIDUALIZED STUDENT ATTENTION.FIELD TRIPS, SPORTS TOURNAMENTS, AND STEM PROJECTS ARE JUST SOME OF THE ACTIVITIES STUDENTS PARTICIPATE IN WHEN JOINING THE AWESOME ACADEMY. THE TRANSFORMED TEAM WORKED CLOSELY WITH EACH MOTHER FOR 6 MONTHS TO CREATE AND IMPLEMENT A TRANSFORMATION PLAN. THIS PLAN GAVE ATTENTION TO AREAS SUCH AS FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT, EMPLOYMENT, LANGUAGE, TRANSPORTATION, AND HOUSING. IN 2017, AMAANAH SERVED 35 SINGLE-MOTHERS ALONG WITH 100 CHILDREN THROUGH TRANSFORMED.100% OF THE MOTHERS MADE SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS IN ALL MAJOR AREAS TARGETED BY THE PROGRAM._________________________________________________ADDITIONAL PROGRAMS AND EVENTS OFFERED BY AMAANAH REFUGEE SERVICES: PINK AND BLUE, A DAY OF FUN AND FESTIVITY FOR STUDENTS IN THE AWESOME ACADEMY. IN 2017, THIS EVENT WAS CONDUCTED BY 32 VOLUNTEERS AND ATTENDED BY 43 CHILDREN._________________________________________________ROCK THE BLOCK, THE LARGEST VOLUNTEER EVENT FOR REFUGEE SERVICES IN HOUSTON. IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ISLAMIC RELIEF USA, 443 VOLUNTEERS PACKAGED AND DELIVERED FOOD DOOR-TO-DOOR TO MORE THAN 941 RESETTLED REFUGEE FAMILIES AROUND HOUSTON AND AUSTIN. A TOTAL OF 1,740 BAGS OF FOOD WERE DELIVERED IN 2017. _________________________________________________MEAT UP, AN ANNUAL MEAT CAMPAIGN FOR RESETTLED REFUGEES. AMAANAH REFUGEE SERVICES SOLICITS DONATIONS FROM SUPPORTERS TO HELP DISTRIBUTE A SIGNIFICANT PORTION OF MEAT TO FAMILIES OF RESETTLED REFUGEES._________________________________________________RAYS OF CHANGE - IN 2017, AMAANAH REFUGEE SERVICES HELD TWO ANNUAL BENEFIT DINNERS IN HOUSTON AND AUSTIN.
