DescriptionGrantsExpenses
AMTSO is an international coalition of leading vendors and testers of anti-malware products and solutions, along with members of the media and academics focused on computer security. AMTSO's mission is to improve business conditions related to the development, use, testing, and rating of anti-malware solutions. AMTSO focuses on the following four areas: 1. Providing a forum for discussions related to the testing of anti-malware and related products, 2. Developing and publicizing objective standards and best practices for the testing of anti-malware and related products, 3. Promoting education and awareness of issues related to the testing of anti-malware and related products, 4. Providing tools and resources to aid standards-based testing methodologies. During the fiscal year, AMTSO continued to produce and revise standards for testing security software. To aid in this effort, AMTSO held two events that involved both members and non-members. AMTSO has also continued to grow its membership base, and has recently added more than 10 members from Asia, Europe and the USA. AMTSO continues to run the Real Time Threat List, which has been designed to provide anti-malware testers with near real-time access to meta-information about malware, and improve testing. AMTSO has also continued to improve features of the Security Features Check, a free service that allows any end user, including non-members, to test the configuration of their anti-malware solution. These activities represent critical steps in fulfilling AMTSO's mission to improve the testing of anti-malware solutions.$137,196-
Clean Software Alliance CSA - In 2013, AMTSO was provided resources to investigate the formation of CSA for viability as a division of AMTSO. CSA was intended to develop best practices around the use and interaction with computer adware. Grants were provided to fund a conference held to determine CSA's viability. It was ultimately decided that CSA was not a viable division of AMTSO and excess funds were returned to the CSA grantors in the following year.$3,852-
