Public & scientific awareness, training, and recognition is provided through an annual conference featuring high-quality, evidence-based information on color related issues in dentistry presented by many of the leaders in this field. The 2024 annual conference meeting at the novotel hotel in miami, florida included 17 presenters with a total of 105 participants. New opportunities for recognition, funding, and continuing education of laboratory technicians and researchers are provided through annual competitions and awards for excellence in dental technology and research related to color and appearance in esthetic dentistry. Presentations by various industry professionals during the conference qualify for up to 16 hours of continuing professional education for all attendees. Awards in various categories are presented at the annual conference. The best posters in the clinical and research category related to color and appearance in esthetic dentistry award is a compilimentary registration for the annual meeting. The prosec excellence award for the best clinical and research posters related to color, esthetics and other aspects of ceramic restorations with emphasis on team work was introduced in 2023. The application is submitted with an abstract form. Us/international students and dental professionals with 10 or fewer years in practice below the level of associate professor are eligble for this award. The author of accepted abstracts received a complimentary registration and hotel accommodation for the annual meeting. In addition, winners in the student and dental professional category receive a complimentary registration for the annual meeting. Other awards programs in recent years include the larsen-chu award open to dental technicians with less than 10 years in practice and the virtuoso award open to dental technicians with more than 10 years in practice for excellence in dental technology. Additionally, the organization supports and promotes the best clinical and laboratory practice and research related to color and appearance in dentistry via publication in the journal of esthetic and restorative dentistry (jerd) with two issues per year devoted to color and appearance in dentistry.
