MENTEES RECEIVED TUTORING SUPPORT IN MATH AND LANGUAGE ARTS AND READING. THE 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE REPEATED THE WORKSHOPS THAT WERE GIVEN TO THE FLAG FOOTBALL STUDENTS THIS WAS JUST GEARED TOWARD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN GRADES 10 THROUGH 12 GRADE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF STUDENTS THAT PARTICIPATED WAS 56 STUDENTS DUPLICATED HEAD COUNT. UNFORTUNATELY, WE WERE UNABLE TO CAPTURE THE INFORMATION ON ALL THE STUDENTS. 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE AND FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES PARTNERED ON A SUMMER FLAG FOOTBALL MENTORING PROGRAM: 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE AND FELLOWSHIP OF CHRISTIAN ATHLETES PARTNERED ON A SUMMER FLAG FOOTBALL CAMP FOR 30 YOUNG MEN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 12-15. THE 100 MET WITH THEM EVERY THURSDAY FROM JULY 11THTO AUGUST 4TH, 2022. THE 100 WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL WORKSHOPS, THAT INCLUDED INTRO TO MANHOOD, AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY I & II, FIRST IMPRESSIONS 101, INTRODUCE TO STEM, TEEN MENTAL HEALTH, HOW TO TREAT WOMER DRUGS, STREET BEHAVIOR REAL TALK, PEEP TO PEEP ENGAGEMENT, HOW TO MANAGE YOUR BRAND, ENTREPRENEURSHIP I & II, JOB READINESS I &II, LEADER- SHIP WHAT'S YOUR POWER, YOUR REPUTATION PRECEDES YOU, IDENTITY AND SELF-ESTEEM. THE DIRECTOR OF THE CAMP WAS SUPPOSED TO PROVIDE US WITH CONTACT INFORMATION FOR THE YOUNG MEN WE REACHED OUT ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT HE NEVER PRO-VIDES THE INFORMATION, SO WE LOST CONTACT WITH A NUMBER OF THESE YOUNG MEN. WE'RE LOOKING TO RE-ENGAGE ANOTHER COHORT AFTER THEY FIND A NEW DIRECTOR. WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE: THIS MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOA) SETS FOR THE TERMS AND UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN THE 100BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE, INC., (100BMS) (100BMS) LOCATED AT 2610 SO. SALINAST., SYRACUSE, NY 13205 (THE FIRST PARTY) AND THE HUEBER BREUER LOCATED AT 148 BERWYN AVE, SYRACUSE, NY 13210 (THE SECOND PARTY) TO COLLABORATE RATE IN A PARTNERSHIP FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A PROGRAM THAT SUP-PORTS EMPLOYEES AND EMPLOYERS WITH FULL WRAP AROUND SERVICES FOCUSING ON CAREERS IN THE SKILLED TRADE. MISSION TO CREATE A DIFFERENT NARRATIVE DEMONSTRATING VALUE OF A DIVERSIFIED WORKFORCE BY AD-DRESSING THE NEEDS OF THE EMPLOYEE AND WHILE WORKING WITH THE EMPLOY-ER TO CREATE A MORE INCLUSIVE ENVIRONMENT. PATHWAYS TO APPRENTICESHIP: PATHWAYS TO APPRENTICESHIP IS A COMPREHENSIVE APPRENTICESHIP READINESS TRAINING PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES A GATEWAY FOR SYRACUSE RESIDENTS FOCUSING ON WOMEN, PEOPLE OF COLOR, AND TRANSITIONING VETERANS TO GAIN ACCESS TO BUILDING TRADES REGISTERED APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMS. THIS PROGRAM IS ADMINISTERED BY THE CENTRAL NEW YORK BUILDING TRADES COUNCIL IN COLLABORATION WITH THE CITY'S SYRACUSE BUILD INITIATIVE AND TEACHES THE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED NORTH AMERICA'S BUILDING TRADES UNIONS (NABTU) MULTI-CRAFT CORE CURRICULUM. THE 100TH ROLL IS TO PROVIDE A SERIES OF WORKSHOPS AND SUPPORT SERVICES FOR THE ADULT MEN AND WOMEN PARTICIPATING THE TRAINING PROGRAM. THE 100 HAS BEEN A PART OF THE PROGRAM SINCE ITS INCEPTION IN 2021. EACH COHORT HAS APPROXIMATELY 30 TO 35 PARTICIPANTS WITH A 90% COMPLETION/GRADUATION RATE. OUR CURRICULUM INTEGRATED SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING INTO ALL ACTIVITIES, FOCUSING ON INTERACTIVE LEARNING METHODS. THIS APPROACH FOSTERED SKILLS IN GROUP AND TEAM BUILDING, WITH SESSIONS COVERING VARIOUS SUBJECTS AND HEALTHY LIVING HABITS. WE CELEBRATED BLACK HISTORY THROUGH A JEOPARDY GAME ON AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY. WE AIM TO INNOVATE AND CHALLENGE OUR YOUTH IN THE FOLLOWING TOPICS: O CULTURAL EXCELLENCE: EDUCATING OUR YOUTH ON AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY AND ACHIEVEMENTS USING AFRICAN AMERICA HISTORY 365 TEXT. O ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT: THIS COURSE AIMS TO EQUIP OUR YOUTH WITH A FOUNDATIONAL UNDERSTANDING OF ECONOMIC PRINCIPLES. BRILLIANT YOUNG MINDS BOOK CLUB THE 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE'S BRILLIANT YOUNG MINDS BOOK CLUB IS A READING PROGRAM FOR 4TH - 6TH GRADERS AT SYRACUSE LATIN SCHOOL DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, OCTOBER TO JUNE. THE ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY WAS A SUPPORTIVE PARTNER OF OUR PROGRAM. THE FOURTH-GRADE CLASS COMPRISED 8 STUDENTS, WHILE THE FIFTH AND SIXTH-GRADE CLASSES EACH CONSISTED OF 10 STUDENTS. THE AIM OF THE PROGRAM IS TO ENHANCE THE READING LEVELS AND COMPREHENSION OF THESE STUDENTS BY ENGAGING THEM IN GRADE-LEVEL APPROPRIATE BOOKS THAT THEY CAN RELATE TO. THE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO MENTOR 'THE 100 WAY'. DISCUSSIONS INCLUDED TOPICS SUCH AS RACE IN AMERICA, THE DEFINITION OF RACISM, CAREER PATHS, CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE, PERSONAL CONDUCT IN ACADEMIC SETTINGS, AND CURRENT EVENTS. THE PROGRAM MEETS WEEKLY WITH A TOTAL OF 28 TO 30 STUDENTS. THE GOAL WAS TO NURTURE A LOVE OF LITERATURE, PARTICULARLY THROUGH BOOKS THAT RESONATE WITH THE STUDENTS. OVERALL, THE PROGRAM WAS EFFECTIVE. JR CADET PROGRAM THE JR CADET PROGRAM AT DR. MLK JR. SUMMER SCHOOL PROVIDED 4TH GRADERS WITH VALUABLE INSIGHTS INTO OUR PUBLIC SAFETY SYSTEM AND THE IMPORTANT ROLES THESE PUBLIC SERVANTS PLAY IN ENSURING OUR SAFETY IN THE CITY OF SYRACUSE. THE PROGRAM WAS FROM JULY 18TH TO AUGUST 12TH AND WAS HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF SCHOOL FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATORS. FIELD TRIPS WERE ORGANIZED WITH FOUR KEY PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES: ONONDAGA COUNTY 911 CALL CENTER, AMR'S EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES, SYRACUSE FIRE STATION 8, AND SYRACUSE POLICE'S PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING. DURING THESE VISITS, STUDENTS GAINED EXPERIENCES THAT FOSTERED POSITIVE ATTITUDES AND FRIENDSHIPS THROUGH ENGAGEMENT IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. IT IS HOPED THAT THESE EXPERIENCES WILL CREATE POSITIVE MEMORIES AND INSPIRE THEM TO CONSIDER CAREERS IN PUBLIC SAFETY. TWENTY-THREE STUDENTS ENROLLED IN THE PROGRAM, WITH AN AVERAGE ATTENDANCE OF 19 JR CADETS FOR THE FIRST THREE FIELD TRIPS AND 13 FOR THE FINAL FIELD TRIP. EACH CADET WHO ATTENDED THREE OUT OF FOUR FIELD TRIPS WILL RECEIVE A 25 GIFT CARD AND A PARTICIPATION CERTIFICATE. 'CITIZEN JAMES, OR YOUNG MEN WITHOUT A COUNTRY' PLAY THE 100 BLACK MEN ARE THE RECIPIENT OF A 7,000 GRANT FROM CNY ARTS CULTURE ENGAGEMENT PROJECT THAT WILL BE ADMINISTER AND MANAGED BY SYRACUSE STAGE. THE PLAY IS A ONETIME SHOWING SCHEDULED FOR AUGUST 2ND AND THE GOAL OF THE GRANT IS TO BRING AWARENESS OF JAMES BALDWIN DECISION TO LEAVE THE UNITED STATES AND LIVE IN FRANCE TO ESCAPE RACISM IN THE 1940'S. THE PLAY WILL HAVE NO ADMISSION CHARGE TO SEE IT AS SUCH WE WANT TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE FULL CAPACITY FOR THE SHOW. SYRACUSE STAGE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TYPICAL PRODUCTION EXPENSES WHEN PUTTING ON A ONE-TIME PLAY. THOSE EXPENSES WILL BE INVOICED TO THE CHAPTER. WE ALSO ARE MENTORING AT NOTTINGHAM H. S., HOWEVER AT THE HIGH SCHOOL MEETING TIMES HAVEN'T BEEN ON A REGULAR BASIS. AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL, STUDENTS ENGAGE IN STRUCTURED ACTIVITIES DESIGNED TO BUILD CONFLICT-RESOLUTION SKILLS INTERACTIVE EXERCISES: BIG WIND BLOWS, PATTERN BALL, BOARD GAMES, LISTENING SKILLS ACTIVITIES, NAME GAME CREATIVE & EXPRESSIVE ACTIVITIES: MUSIC, SPORTS BY A CONFLICT RESOLUTION SPECIALIST. THIS APPROACH HAS STRENGTHENED THE DELIVERY OF 100 BLACK MEN'S PROGRAM. FOR OTHER SCHOOLS, PROGRAMMING REMAINS ALIGNED WITH THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT. HOWEVER, FOR 15 STUDENTS RECEIVING DAILY MENTORSHIP, WE HAVE INCORPORATED WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT THE 100'S WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM AND CNY WORKS ARE HELPING A DOZEN HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS GAIN HANDS-ON LANDSCAPE AND LAWN CARE EXPERIENCE. FROM 9:00AM-2:00PM, MONDAY-FRIDAY MENTEES LEARN WORK READINESS, TEAMWORK, LISTENING, AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS BY SERVING CUSTOMERS AT THEIR HOMES UNDER CLAUDE GREENE'S SUPERVISION. CUSTOMERS DONATE TO THE CHAPTER 2,467 FROM ABOUT 25 LAWN REQUESTS. THE SECOND PART OF THIS PROGRAM IS TEACHING LIFE SKILLS DURING MENTORING SESSIONS BACK AT SOUTHSIDE INNOVATION CENTER WHERE LUNCH IS PROVIDED. ALONG WITH INSTILLING ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT ATTRIBUTES OUR STUDENTS RECEIVE STRONG MENTORING TO FINISH THE DAY. HBCU FOOTBALL GAME TRIP, SEPT 21 THE 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE PARTNERED WITH SYRACUSE YMCA AND BLACK MEN UNITED TO ESCORT, CHAPERONE AND MENTOR 20-25 YOUNG PEOPLE TO ATTEND AN HBCU FOOTBALL GAME BETWEEN CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY VS ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY AND THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS AT THE ROCHESTER COMMUNITY SPORTS COMPLEX. ALL THE COSTS WERE SHARED. THIS EXPOSED YOUNG PEOPLE TO THE PEOPLE ASSOCIATED WITH HBCU SPORT AND MUSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND TOTAL EXPERIENCE THE TRIP TO ROCHESTER, NY, ALLOWING CHAPERONE TO MENTOR SO TO ACHIEVE A MEMORABLE AND ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE. WILL INSPIRE THEM TO CONTINUE SCHOLASTIC EDUCATION WITH A GOAL TO LOOK POSITIVELY TO ATTEND COLLEGE, PARTICULARLY AN HBCU. THE DISCUSSION COVERED DEMENTIA AND ALZHEIMER'S DIFFERENCES, CAUSES, TREATMENTS, PERSONAL EXPERIENCES WITH AFFECTED LOVED ONES, CAREGIVING, AND THE HIGHER IMPACT ON BLACK FAMILIES AND PEOPLE OF COLOR. LEAD TESTING EVENT DURING THE LEAD TESTING EVENT ON APRIL 27, 2024, HOSTED BY 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE AT SYRACUSE COMMUNITY HEALTH, 48 CHILDREN WERE TESTED AND 6 WERE FOUND TO HAVE ELEVATED LEAD LEVELS THROUGH FINGERSTICK TESTS. THESE CHILDREN REQUIRED VENIPUNCTURE TESTS FOR CONFIRMATION, AND THE ONONDAGA COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S LEAD POISONING PREVENTION AND HEALTHY HOMES INITIATIVES TEAM COORDINATED WITH HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS AND FAMILIES TO ENSURE THOSE WITH ELEVATED LEVELS WERE SCHEDULED FOR THE VENIPUNCTURE TEST. ADDITIONALLY, 5 CHILDREN WERE DISCHARGED FROM THE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES AS THEIR VENIPUNCTURE TEST RESULTS SHOWED TWO CONSECUTIVE LEAD TESTS BELOW THE THRESHOLD. THE AVERAGE AGE OF THE CHILDREN TESTED WAS 4.6 YEARS, AND THE MOST REPRESENTED ZIP CODES WERE 13205 AND 13208. WINSTON GASKIN COMMUNITY WALK FOR HEALTH & WELLNESS THE 15TH ANNUAL WINSTON GASKIN COMMUNITY WALK FOR HEALTH & WELLNESS TOOK PLACE AT KIRK PARK ON SEPTEMBER 28, 2024, WITH APPROXIMATELY 70 PARTICIPANTS. THIS YEAR'S THEME FOCUSED ON PROSTATE AND COLORECTAL CANCER AWARENESS. SOUL FOOD JUNKIES, PART 2 PROGRAM 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE HOSTED "SOUL FOOD JUNKIES, PART 2" ON NOVEMBER 21, 2024, AT THE DUNBAR CENTER. THE EVENT FEATURED ALTERNATIVES TO DISHES COMMONLY ASSOCIATED WITH OBESITY, DIABETES, HEART DISEASE, CANCER, AND OTHER HEALTH CONDITIONS THAT AFFECT THE BLACK COMMUNITY. “Education programs: youth empowerment program 100 black men of syracuse, inc. Sy24/25 began with professional educators and 15 students in grades 4-8. Our curriculum integrated social emotional learning into all activities, focusing on interactive learning methods. This approach fostered skills in group and team building, with sessions covering various subjects and healthy living habits. We celebrated black history through a jeopardy game on african american history. We aim to innovate and challenge our youth in the following topics: o cultural excellence: educating our youth on african american history and achievements using african america history 365 text. O life skills: comprehensive discussions on self-worth, self-love, understanding personal value, presentation skills, proper etiquette in various social settings, letter writing, and resume building. O economic empowerment: this course aims to equip our youth with a foundational understanding of economic principles. It will instruct them on saving effectively, comprehending investment mechanisms, and ultimately leveraging their financial resources efficiently. O creative expression: art and theatre classes that help youth express themselves and broaden their worldview. O technology alliance of central new york (tacny): facilitates discussions between stem professionals, academics, and students about topics in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics in an informal setting, aiming to encourage students to consider careers in these fields. Brilliant young minds book club the 100 black men of syracuse's brilliant young minds book club is a reading program for 4th - 6th graders at syracuse latin school during the school year, october to june. The administration and faculty was a supportive partner of our program. The fourth-grade class comprised 8 students, while the fifth and sixth-grade classes each consisted of 10 students. The aim of the program is to enhance the reading levels and comprehension of these students by engaging them in grade-level appropriate books that they can relate to. The program also provided opportunities for members to mentor 'the 100 way'. Discussions included topics such as race in america, the definition of racism, career paths, classroom etiquette, personal conduct in academic settings, and current events. The program meets weekly with a total of 28 to 30 students. The goal was to nurture a love of literature, particularly through books that resonate with the students. Overall, the program was effective. Jr cadet program the jr cadet program at dr. Mlk jr. Summer school provided 4th graders with valuable insights into our public safety system and the important roles these public servants play in ensuring our safety in the city of syracuse. The program was from july 18th to august 12th and was highly successful thanks to the support of school faculty and administrators. Field trips were organized with four key public safety agencies: onondaga county 911 call center, amr's emergency medical services, syracuse fire station 8, and syracuse police's public safety building. During these visits, students gained experiences that fostered positive attitudes and friendships through engagement in a safe environment. It is hoped that these experiences will create positive memories and inspire them to consider careers in public safety. Twenty-three students enrolled in the program, with an average attendance of 19 jr cadets for the first three field trips and 13 for the final field trip. Each cadet who attended three out of four field trips will receive a 25 gift card and a participation certificate. 'citizen james, or young men without a country' play the 100 black men are the recipient of a 7,000 grant from cny arts culture engagement project that will be administer and managed by syracuse stage. The play is a onetime showing scheduled for august 2nd and the goal of the grant is to bring awareness of james baldwin decision to leave the united state”
“Mentoring programs syracuse city school mentoring program the 100 black men of syracuse's and the syracuse city school is collaborating to conduct the conflict resolution program at lincoln middle school. We also are mentoring at nottingham h. S., however at the high school meeting times haven't been on a regular basis. At the middle school, students engage in structured activities designed to build conflict-resolution skills interactive exercises: big wind blows, pattern ball, board games, listening skills activities, name game creative & expressive activities: music, sports by a conflict resolution specialist. This approach has strengthened the delivery of 100 black men's program. For other schools, programming remains aligned with the original contract. However, for 15 students receiving daily mentorship, we have incorporated workforce development the 100's workforce development program and cny works are helping a dozen high school students gain hands-on landscape and lawn care experience. From 9:00am-2:00pm, monday-friday mentees learn work readiness, teamwork, listening, and communication skills by serving customers at their homes under claude greene's supervision. Customers donate to the chapter 2,467 from about 25 lawn requests. The second part of this program is teaching life skills during mentoring sessions back at southside innovation center where lunch is provided. Along with instilling economic empowerment attributes our students receive strong mentoring to finish the day. Hbcu football game trip, sept 21 the 100 black men of syracuse partnered with syracuse ymca and black men united to escort, chaperone and mentor 20-25 young people to attend an hbcu football game between central state university vs albany state university and the battle of the bands at the rochester community sports complex. All the costs were shared. This exposed young people to the people associated with hbcu sport and musical environment and total experience the trip to rochester, ny, allowing chaperone to mentor so to achieve a memorable and enjoyable experience. Will inspire them to continue scholastic education with a goal to look positively to attend college, particularly an hbcu. They will have the opportunity to see young college students perform and excel in sport and music and a high level. It is our mission as a chapter to expose our youth to positive roles and possibilities that may not always be available to them. Step 1 and future 100 programs the future 100 & step 1 orientation was had an excellent start saturday thanks to the mentoring and education committees hard work in the last couple of months. It was good to see the young men with their parents there and the program when off without a hitch.thanks to the tony, joe & dorothy leadership planning and sticking to the schedule. Our membership looked excited and eager to continue to supporting these two program. We also welcomed our new program coordinator cashay kirkland and she excited to get started.”
“Heath & wellness programs alzheimer's disease town hall the alzheimer's association central new york chapter held a forum on april 4, 2024 at the south side innovation center, hosted by 100 black men of syracuse with 35-40 attendees. The discussion covered dementia and alzheimer's differences, causes, treatments, personal experiences with affected loved ones, caregiving, and the higher impact on black families and people of color. Lead testing event during the lead testing event on april 27, 2024, hosted by 100 black men of syracuse at syracuse community health, 48 children were tested and 6 were found to have elevated lead levels through fingerstick tests. These children required venipuncture tests for confirmation, and the onondaga county health department's lead poisoning prevention and healthy homes initiatives team coordinated with healthcare providers and families to ensure those with elevated levels were scheduled for the venipuncture test. Additionally, 5 children were discharged from the county health department's case management services as their venipuncture test results showed two consecutive lead tests below the threshold. The average age of the children tested was 4.6 years, and the most represented zip codes were 13205 and 13208. Winston gaskin community walk for health & wellness the 15th annual winston gaskin community walk for health & wellness took place at kirk park on september 28, 2024, with approximately 70 participants. This year's theme focused on prostate and colorectal cancer awareness. The event included a 3.2-mile walk along the onondaga creekwalk, and featured contributions from over a dozen community partners. Additionally, there was a debut public screening of a video produced by members, showcasing four individuals from 100 black men of syracuse who are recovering from prostate cancer. Soul food junkies, part 2 program 100 black men of syracuse hosted "soul food junkies, part 2" on november 21, 2024, at the dunbar center. The event featured alternatives to dishes commonly associated with obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and other health conditions that affect the black community. The 100 and its eight participating partners provided tips to the 60 attendees on how to incorporate more vegetables and fruits into soul food while maintaining its cultural significance. Free food samples were available, and a printed collection of favorite soul food recipes in healthier variations was offered in exchange for a donation.”
“100 black men of syracuse and the dean of students at syracuse academy of science high school mentoring program: 100 black men of syracuse and the dean of students at syracuse academy of science high school mentoring program ran this seven-weeks summer program. Mentees received tutoring support in math and language arts and reading. The 100 black men of syracuse repeated the workshops that were given to the flag football students this was just geared toward high school students in grades 10 through 12 grade the total number of students that participated was 56 students duplicated head count. Unfortunately, we were unable to capture the information on all the students. 100 black men of syracuse and fellowship of christian athletes partnered on a summer flag football mentoring program: 100 black men of syracuse and fellowship of christian athletes partnered on a summer flag football camp for 30 young men between the ages of 12-15. The 100 met with them every thursday from july 11thto august 4th, 2022. The 100 were responsible for all workshops, that included intro to manhood, african american history i & ii, first impressions 101, introduce to stem, teen mental health, how to treat womer drugs, street behavior real talk, peep to peep engagement, how to manage your brand, entrepreneurship i & ii, job readiness i &ii, leader- ship what's your power, your reputation precedes you, identity and self-esteem. The director of the camp was supposed to provide us with contact information for the young men we reached out on several occasions, but he never pro-vides the information, so we lost contact with a number of these young men. We're looking to re-engage another cohort after they find a new director. Workforce development initiative: this memorandum of understanding (moa) sets for the terms and understanding between the 100black men of syracuse, inc., (100bms) (100bms) located at 2610 so. Salinast., syracuse, ny 13205 (the first party) and the hueber breuer located at 148 berwyn ave, syracuse, ny 13210 (the second party) to collaborate rate in a partnership for the implementation of a program that sup-ports employees and employers with full wrap around services focusing on careers in the skilled trade. Mission to create a different narrative demonstrating value of a diversified workforce by ad-dressing the needs of the employee and while working with the employ-er to create a more inclusive environment. Create opportunities to engage all stakeholders in a relaxed atmosphere for open communications to develop pragmatic approaches to improve the workplace. Pathways to apprenticeship: pathways to apprenticeship is a comprehensive apprenticeship readiness training program. This program provides a gateway for syracuse residents focusing on women, people of color, and transitioning veterans to gain access to building trades registered apprenticeship programs. This program is administered by the central new york building trades council in collaboration with the city's syracuse build initiative and teaches the nationally recognized north america's building trades unions (nabtu) multi-craft core curriculum. The 100th roll is to provide a series of workshops and support services for the adult men and women participating the training program. The 100 has been a part of the program since its inception in 2021. Each cohort has approximately 30 to 35 participants with a 90% completion/graduation rate. We are currently working with the 4th cohort.”

THE ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY WAS A SUPPORTIVE PARTNER OF OUR PROGRAM. THE FOURTH-GRADE CLASS COMPRISED 8 STUDENTS, WHILE THE FIFTH AND SIXTH-GRADE CLASSES EACH CONSISTED OF 10 STUDENTS. THE AIM OF THE PROGRAM IS TO ENHANCE THE READING LEVELS AND COMPREHENSION OF THESE STUDENTS BY ENGAGING THEM IN GRADE-LEVEL APPROPRIATE BOOKS THAT THEY CAN RELATE TO. THE PROGRAM ALSO PROVIDED OPPORTUNITIES FOR MEMBERS TO MENTOR 'THE 100 WAY'. DISCUSSIONS INCLUDED TOPICS SUCH AS RACE IN AMERICA, THE DEFINITION OF RACISM, CAREER PATHS, CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE, PERSONAL CONDUCT IN ACADEMIC SETTINGS, AND CURRENT EVENTS. THE PROGRAM MEETS WEEKLY WITH A TOTAL OF 28 TO 30 STUDENTS. THE GOAL WAS TO NURTURE A LOVE OF LITERATURE, PARTICULARLY THROUGH BOOKS THAT RESONATE WITH THE STUDENTS. OVERALL, THE PROGRAM WAS EFFECTIVE. JR CADET PROGRAM THE JR CADET PROGRAM AT DR. MLK JR. SUMMER SCHOOL PROVIDED 4TH GRADERS WITH VALUABLE INSIGHTS INTO OUR PUBLIC SAFETY SYSTEM AND THE IMPORTANT ROLES THESE PUBLIC SERVANTS PLAY IN ENSURING OUR SAFETY IN THE CITY OF SYRACUSE. THE PROGRAM WAS FROM JULY 18TH TO AUGUST 12TH AND WAS HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL THANKS TO THE SUPPORT OF SCHOOL FACULTY AND ADMINISTRATORS. FIELD TRIPS WERE ORGANIZED WITH FOUR KEY PUBLIC SAFETY AGENCIES: ONONDAGA COUNTY 911 CALL CENTER, AMR'S EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES, SYRACUSE FIRE STATION 8, AND SYRACUSE POLICE'S PUBLIC SAFETY BUILDING. DURING THESE VISITS, STUDENTS GAINED EXPERIENCES THAT FOSTERED POSITIVE ATTITUDES AND FRIENDSHIPS THROUGH ENGAGEMENT IN A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. IT IS HOPED THAT THESE EXPERIENCES WILL CREATE POSITIVE MEMORIES AND INSPIRE THEM TO CONSIDER CAREERS IN PUBLIC SAFETY. HBCU FOOTBALL GAME TRIP, SEPT 21 THE 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE PARTNERED WITH SYRACUSE YMCA AND BLACK MEN UNITED TO ESCORT, CHAPERONE AND MENTOR 20-25 YOUNG PEOPLE TO ATTEND AN HBCU FOOTBALL GAME BETWEEN CENTRAL STATE UNIVERSITY VS ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY AND THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS AT THE ROCHESTER COMMUNITY SPORTS COMPLEX. ALL THE COSTS WERE SHARED. THIS EXPOSED YOUNG PEOPLE TO THE PEOPLE ASSOCIATED WITH HBCU SPORT AND MUSICAL ENVIRONMENT AND TOTAL EXPERIENCE THE TRIP TO ROCHESTER, NY, ALLOWING CHAPERONE TO MENTOR SO TO ACHIEVE A MEMORABLE AND ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE. LEAD TESTING EVENT DURING THE LEAD TESTING EVENT ON APRIL 27, 2024, HOSTED BY 100 BLACK MEN OF SYRACUSE AT SYRACUSE COMMUNITY HEALTH, 48 CHILDREN WERE TESTED AND 6 WERE FOUND TO HAVE ELEVATED LEAD LEVELS THROUGH FINGERSTICK TESTS. THESE CHILDREN REQUIRED VENIPUNCTURE TESTS FOR CONFIRMATION, AND THE ONONDAGA COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S LEAD POISONING PREVENTION AND HEALTHY HOMES INITIATIVES TEAM COORDINATED WITH HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS AND FAMILIES TO ENSURE THOSE WITH ELEVATED LEVELS WERE SCHEDULED FOR THE VENIPUNCTURE TEST.
