The brakettes encouraged inner city girls from stratford and bridgeport to take part in the clinics by assisting twenty (20) girls to attend the clinics without charge. The brakettes also worked with the stratford recreation girls' softball league, sending team members to weekly practices and to act as coaches throughout the summer season.”
“Community work: the brakettes continued to play an important role in the local community. Arrangements were made for senior citizen groups, special-needs groups and youth organizations such as little league, ymca and girls clubs to attend games free-of-charge. Team members spoke and mixed with each group, stressing the importance of teamwork, physical fitness and dedication to achieving goals. The brakettes also worked with the stratford recreation girls' softball league, sending team members to assist in drills and act as coaches on a weekly basis. The brakettes held a breast cancer awareness night. The team was dressed in pink and the susan g komen for the cure organization handed out literature to the crowd and received all donations for the night. The brakettes also continued their tradition of awarding a local high school girl who is in need, with a scholarship.”

THE BRAKETTES HELD A BREAST CANCER AWARENESS NIGHT. THE TEAM WAS DRESSED IN PINK AND THE SUSAN G KOMEN FOR THE CURE ORGANIZATION HANDED OUT LITERATURE TO THE CROWD AND RECEIVED ALL DONATIONS FOR THE NIGHT. THE BRAKETTES ALSO CONTINUED THEIR TRADITION OF AWARDING A LOCAL HIGH SCHOOL GIRL WHO IS IN NEED, WITH A SCHOLARSHIP. |
