Part III, Line 29: Malawi Matters Inc (MMI) was incorporated in May 2008 and formed a Board of Directors in September 2008. The Internal Revenue Service granted MMI IRC section 501(c)(3) status in December 2008. MMI primary exempt purpose is to provide Health and Welfare Education in Malawi and Central Africa. Since it's founding MMI has continued to work with various Malawian church, organization, education districts and provide support to the Malawian led NGO in Malawi to provide leadership development, training programs and women services to address the HIV/AIDS crisis. In 2021 due to the COVID 19 pandemic MMI remotely continued to provide this vital training, materials and support to Malawi and the Central African region.$41,528$30,616
Part III, Line 28: In 2021 despite the global pandemic, Malawi Matters Inc's (MMI) mission in the "Warm Heart" of Africa continued, and even expanded. Educational opportunities for the 7.5 million people in the Central Region of Africa were continued to be delivered despite no international travel. By using multiple forms of technology and social media to stay connected with the volunteers in Malawi the United States based board was able to coordinate the communication needed to continue this vital programming. Full COVID 19 precautions were used in both countries for remote and in-person meetings. In Malawi the Regional, Area and Local representatives monitored MMI's Creative Methods of HIV/AIDS education work as well as the Equipping Women and Empowering Girls programs with certified instructors in 200 congregations and coordination teams in 1,500 schools. Creative Methods courses and classes, as well as events, continued in each village covering transmission and prevention as well as compassion and care. Topics in the Women/Girls groups included human rights, age characteristics, development, adolescence, menstrual cycle, child marriage, cultural practices, gender issues, education, empowerment, stress management and next steps. In addition to the ongoing, work in Malawi, volunteers in the United States disseminated information about the MMI's work and the needs in Sub Saharan Africa by speaking at service clubs; leading classes in elementary, middle and high schools plus colleges and universities: offering sessions in congregations; and conduction programs in libraries. During much of 2021 a team of fifteen American and Malawian women met weekly via zoom and google drive to review and revise each of the fifteen classes for the Women/Girls program in preparation to make them available to the people of Malawi and other nations via print and video format. In 2021 MMI board members continued to support the Malawi based Non Governmental Organization (NGO) for Malawians to deliver in country based programing and services to reach multiple segments of their society.$0$0
