“National Parks Traveler is the only media organization focused specifically on editorial coverage of national parks and protected areas. It provides free coverage through its flagship website, nationalparkstraveler.org, a weekly podcast series, its Apple News feed, and its social media platforms. During FY24-25, traffic across all platforms dipped ~ 5.3% percent from the previous fiscal year. Looking across all platforms, Traveler's content generated ~ 1.84 million views from around the world. While the bulk of the editorial coverage stems from day-to-day events across the National Park System, the past year saw the rise of issues that deserved extended coverage. For example, how the National Park Service is struggling to deal with increasing visitation and decreasing staff, how climate change is impacting national parks and their natural resources, how the National Park Service is funded, how its employees are compensated, and biodiversity issues across the National Park System. During calendar Year 2025, traffic to National Parks Traveler content on its flagship website, Apple News feed, and podcast channel more than doubled, to 4.5 million readers and listeners. The National Parks Traveler's weekly podcasts were ranked among the Top 100 Global Podcasts by FeedSpot, an industry tracker. The National Parks Traveler landed a $30,000 grant from the Park Foundation for a series of stories on threatened and endangered species in the National Park System, including an article examining the future of the Endangered Species Act. The Traveler also landed a $15,000 matching grant from the Curtis and Edith Munson Foundation for a series of stories on impacts to the Florida Reef, which stretches from Dry Tortugas National Park to Biscayne National Park.”
