Education highlights for 2024: - our additional classroom was built and ready for the 2025 school year - seiner lopz is our full-time principal - two new teachers were hired for parvulos and 5th grade - teachers worked on khan academy time each week to improve their math skills - for 2024: 8,040 minutes and 555 skills mastered, all working at least at the 4th grade level - regular education meetings have been held each month adi continues to translate - students - raz kids - 35,290 books listened to; 35,512 books read - students - khan academy math skills - improved on 13,027, 103 per student - mastered 9,733, 77 per student - distribution of crosses to students during may visit, help from maumee united methodist church youth - communication with sponsors included a handmade card in may and a christmas card in december - visit from the guatemalan ministry of education to discuss 2025 school year - held meeting with teachers to go over raz and khan academy and how to assist students to achieve more - we gave the standardized test that was given to us by the ministry of education one time. Most kids got 100%, decided not to give it again, very time consuming to grade - two new desktop computers were purchased through money donated at leap fundraiser - students received vaccinations - planted new trees on site with students caring for them - students had guest speakers that showed them possibilities of future careers - we held a metric olympics with students estimating and measuring actual distances of various events - we had our first family move night showing the movie vivo - our pen pal program with maumee valley country day school included letters and zoom calls - vbs was held right after school was completed, 125 students were in attendance; students also have bible study each day at school - a family fun day was held at the conclusion of the school year. Members of the staff, families and the community came together and paid for and poured a concrete slab performance area for the school and students' use - seiner secured many donations from the community for extra activities

Health program: - 11 hospitals, health districts and clinics sent paps to sewhope's cytology lab - held 104 jornadas (medical team visits to outlying communities), averaging 8-9 a month - 5,600 cervical cancer screenings and 321 procedures were performed - hosted workshops for local cytologists at sewhope's health center on proper cytology technique - 3 mission trips included: - 7 volunteer cytologists from the us and puerto rico - 3 volunteer ogbyns (california, michigan and ohio) - 1 volunteer oncologist - mayra sewhope's lead (local) cytologist participated in: - the 1st latin american meeting of cytologists - the 1st multidisciplinary congress of the san benito hospital - the "women's right to access health care for the prevention of breast and cervical cancer" forum

Community development program: - 27 stoves and 38 water filters were installed - 750 fish were raised and sold - 200 chickens were raised by 30 students, 1,130 were raised by women's groups and 22 individual families - 70 students were involved in activities, and 43 families were impacted by cd projects - 2 women's cooperative groups, with 9 members each. Total, the groups saved and earned approximately 9,100 - small kitchen outside of the clinic was built for the women's co-op members to use - 677 boxes of kcah food was delivered to 60 extremely poor families on a monthly basis

The food is a dried combination of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by an undernourished child's body and mind. 60,000 meals were packed in 4 hours by 250 volunteers. An additional 190,000 meals were donated and all were shipped to guatemola along with supplies and equipment for use in our programs in guatemala.
