| Form 990-EZ - Part III, Line 28 - Agape Academy and Primary, Kaleko Village, Uganda TOTAL $30,331. Please see Schedule O for the complete description of our service to Agape Academy. LTI, along with support from Grandville Federated Church in Grandville, MA, has supported the development of vulnerable children and orphans at Agape Academy since 2015. Our support provides monthly food for 500 children, 15 teachers, and three staff. We continue to help maintain the health of the animals we previously provided (200 chickens and 80 goats) with chicken feed, medications, and vaccines. We also support maintenance of the water well that we build in 2016. Our construction projects this year include a new pit latrine; cementing 6 classroom floors; buying and transporting 140 desks; building two new dormitories for 50 orphaned girls and 50 orphaned boys. Through support of Agape Academy, LTI has the opportunity to influence 500 students and their teachers with a spiritual education that includes God's ideal for equality between male and female. Teaching access to 500 future adults allows LTI to further its exempt purposes. | $0 | $30,331 |
| 2019 Form 990-EZ - Part III, Line 29 - Programs Designed to Eradicate Female Genital Mutilation TOTAL - $21,155. Please see the complete description of these programs on Schedule O. Christian Mentoring and Skills Training Projects for Sabiny Girls, Sebei Region, Uganda. Sub-total $8,337. The Sabiny tribe is approximately 230,000 people living across 1,200 sq. miles along the slopes of Mt. Elgon in Eastern Uganda. Sabiny girls have been subjected to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) throughout the history of their people. But through education and creative support for girls, women, men, and marriages, LTI is stirring the Sabiny to eradicate FGM from their culture. One way we support the abandonment of FGM is through educational conferences (see below). Another is by combining girls' spiritual growth with skills training, and the necessary equipment to make a living for themselves. Through our interactions with Sabiny people in many of our teaching programs, we have learned that girls who can earn their own income are far less likely to be forced into FGM or early marriage by their parents. Our goal through these projects is to raise enough funds so that, eventually, every Sabiny young woman, ages 16 - 22, will receive a Christian education and sustainable economic power. Girls whose families agree not to force their daughters into FGM receive Christian mentoring, as well as training in income producing skills. So far we have 17 groups of 15 girls with 1 or 2 mentors in each group. We currently have 3 hairdressing projects, 11 sewing centers with 44 sewing machines, and we have built 3 commercial bakeries. Since the beginning of this program, we have served over 300 girls. As a result, girls are lifted out of poverty, gain enormous self-esteem, garner community respect, and maintain the inner strength to stand against FGM. In spite of a 2019 resurgence of FGM in communities near some of out projects, not one of the young women in any of our groups have submitted to, or been forced into FGM. This year we sent funds for next-level training in all of our groups, upgraded or replaced bakery equipment in all three of the bakeries, and sent funds for supplies to sew and sell masks during the pandemic. Just before Covid-19 hit Uganda, we sent funds to buy six sweater making machines for new projects to be started in Riwo and Kwosir (see below) as soon as the pandemic restrictions are lifted. "Live in Harmony" Men's Conference - Sebei Region, Kapchorwa, Uganda. Sub-total $11,006. LTI held a three day conference for 300 men on January 29-31, 2020. The participants were Christian, Muslim, and non-religious. The conference addressed a tragedy (mentioned above) that happened in 2019 when 40 men forced their wives and 3 daughters into FGM. None of those men had been to any of our trainings, and they were deeply moved by what they learned at our Men's Conference. We taught, 1st, God's biblical design for equal value and shared rulership between men and women. 2nd we explained God's perfect biological design for pair bonding between husband-and-wife. Through the mutual release of the "love hormone" oxytocin during sexual climax, a couple becomes more and more "chemically" knitted together in love. The men learned that mutilating a woman's genitalia does not force her to stay faithful to him, but rather devastates her body's ability to fully bond to him through the release of oxytocin. FGM literally removes a woman's God-given "mechanism" for stimulating the largest release of the bonding hormone, oxytocin. Therefore, FGM eliminates an essential ability for a woman to bond in love with her husband. Participants learned that FGM produces the opposite effect than what they had desired. Many men understood why their wives despised sex, and abandoned them in older years. The response was enormous; the men implored the LTI team to repeat the conference with a bigger audience as soon as possible. The cost of the conference included printed supplies, hiring a sound system, screen and technician, photographer, airtime and internet costs, hiring La Bamba Hotel's conference hall, accommodating 160 of the 300 men, meals for three days, along with bottled drinking water and afternoon tea. Post-Men's Conference Community Dialogue Meetings in Riwo and Kwosir, Uganda - Sub-Total $1,812. Men from areas previously supporting FGM requested that our leaders come to their communities. Moved at our conference, forty men from Riwo started an organization called, "Riwo Men against FGM." LTI furnished them with T-shirts and caps printed with their slogan, which they wore on the day of their community meeting, showing how seriously they wanted to end FGM. A meeting in the Kwosir community had the same outcome. Both communities decided to abandon FGM, and invited LTI to bring teaching and income-producing projects to their young women. Funds were raised to begin four new groups as soon as the pandemic restrictions lift. | $0 | $21,155 |
| Form 990-EZ - Part III, Line 30 - Life Together International's Compassion Fund TOTAL $6,688. Please see Schedule O for the complete description of our Compassion Fund. Covid-19 Relief Fund, Sub-total $4,063. In 2003 Rev. Patti Ricotta began making yearly trips to East Africa. In 2007 she cofounded Life Together International. From the beginning, Rev. Patti has developed many enduring and trusted relationships with like-minded ministers and organizations. Our collaboration with trusted partners made it possible for us to serve over 400 people suffering through the pandemic, even though we could not be there ourselves. Two donors gave of $1,000 each to provide Covid relief in Uganda. LTI matched that amount and divided it among our partner organizations and individual minister's families. Through Sebei Diocese we gave funds to buy food for impoverished families in a new church plant. Agape Academy received funds for masks and 4 handwashing stations. In Kampala, we sent funds to The Joy of Sharing Women's Group who provided food to abused women and their children. Na'ah Regel Mission (translates to "Beautiful Feet") also in Kampala, received funds to provide food for their Street Boys Fellowship and their Women's Fellowship. In Western Uganda (Rwentobo), World Shine Ministries received funds to send their boarding students home with bags of food for their families. EMINAWE, an organization for widows living with HIV-AIDS in Rukungiri, received funds to buy food for all 40 of their members. In summary, 400 people received approximately $10 worth of food each. School Fees, Sub-total $1,451. We provided school fees for six impoverished children. Medical Expenses, Sub-total $1,174 - Bethany Women's Hospital, 16 Kabalega Close, Kampala. Since 2007, LTI has partnered with Bethany Women's Hospital to provide excellent medical care for African women in poverty. In June, a 23-year-old woman with a very rare blood type came to Bethany Women's Hospital with placenta previa. The mother needed care by professionals at a state-of-the-art hospital to save her and the baby's lives. LTI provided for her medical care through this fiscal period. A Sabiny woman in her early 50s faced a mysterious illness causing her to be bed ridden for five months. Her local doctor suspected Parkinson's disease. He could not be sure without further testing at the hospital in Mbale, which she could not afford. LTI provided the means for her hospital testing that revealed that she did not have Parkinson's. Rather she needed an easily supplied medication provided through LTI. Now, she is on her feet again and living an active life. | $0 | $6,688 |
| Form 990-EZ - Part III, Line 31 - Other program services. Gifts of Gratitude and Appreciation for Our Volunteer Partners TOTAL $1,675 The hard work and complete dedication of our volunteer partners is enormously appreciated. We could not dare to dream of the accomplishments we have achieved together without their selfless dedication. And yet, Life Together International has not yet reached the level of being able to provide salaries for our hard-working volunteers, though they very much deserve to be compensated. That is why every year we endeavor to give a Christmas gift of cash to show our appreciation in a small way. This year we provided a Christmas gift to 10 ministry volunteers in Uganda. | $0 | $1,675 |

| ReasonableCauseExplanation/ExplanationTxt | 0 | LTI had an extension until May 15, 2021. I was on track to complete our 2019 990-EZ on time until April 16, 2021 at 3:16 p.m. when I experienced a sudden and terrifying partial loss of vision in my right eye. Upon calling an ophthalmologist in my home area, I was urged to go immediately to Massachusetts Eye and Ear emergency room (a 2 hour drive away) because it was suspected that I had a torn retina, which could lead to permanent vision loss. Very frightened, I went to Boston immediately and was examined by 2 doctors at Mass Eye and Ear. They informed me that I was experiencing a detachment of tissue that was obscuring my vision. However, the tissue was still partially attached to my retina, and every time I moved my eyes, the still-attached tissue tugged on my retina, threatening to completely tear it and lose my vision. The pulling on my retina was causing bright, white lights to flash across my field of vision, disorienting me and making me dizzy. I was told not to bend over, lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk, and try my best not to move my eyes quickly. Doing so could rip away the tissue and tear my retina, making it necessary to have retina surgery within 1.5 to 2 hours to save my vision. I was terrified and completely obedient to the doctors' orders. I quit doing anything that would strain my eyes or make me move them quickly. For two weeks or so, my vision remained blurred, and the disorienting flashing lights streaked across my eyes every time I had to look to the right or left. Looking at my computer was painful, and I was fearful that reading (moving my eyes quickly), working on numbers, or straining my eyes in any way, would cause me to lose the vision in my right eye. It was impossible to work on the 990-EZ without pain or fear of losing my vision. After seeing another ophthalmologist for a follow-up 2 weeks later, I was told the eye may be healing and I could return to somewhat normal activity. I had lost 2 weeks of work, but I went back to our 990-EZ. Also, this is the first time I am trying to submit the form on line. I'm using https://efile.form990.org/ but it has been a steep learning curve and the program is not user friendly for someone with no experience. I keep getting errors, and on Schedule O, Lines 28-30, the program cuts out the first 3 or 4 lines, even though I'm well within the number of characters allowed. I still haven't figured out how to fix it and the tech help people have not gotten back to me. I'm worried and don't know what to do to get the form sent to you. Also, this is only our 2nd 990-EZ, and the IRS has not yet processed our 2018, 990-EZ, so with no feedback in the form of a correct and filed 2018 Form 990-EZ, nor even feedback that I had made mistakes, I have no idea if what I am doing is correct. I made an inquiry to the IRS by phone on July 10, 2020 to see if our 2018 Form 990 had been received. I could not get through to a person for several days of calling, so I left a voice message. When by September, our 2018 Form 990-EZ had still not been filed, I tried again for several days to get through to the IRS. On Sept. 5, 2020, I was able to leave a message again. It wasn't until January 8, 2021, that I received a letter from the IRS (reference number 0438900001) about my first call. The letter thanked me for my first inquiry of July 10, 2020, and said they needed an additional 60 days to give a complete response. I totally understood that the pandemic was causing upheaval everywhere. But then, on January 22, 2021 I received another letter (reference number 0437572886) saying thank you for your inquiry dated Sep. 5, 2020. All it said was that our 2018 Form 990-EZ was received on July 10, 2020. It said if I had any questions, I could call or write. As I was working on our 2019 Form 990-EZ, I had many questions, but after reading all the instructions, watching videos, etc., and still no filed 2018 990-EZ posted, I tried to call again in February and early March. These times, the |
