“Our annual festival is an opportunity for students attending dance studios all around west virginia to take classes from professional, acclaimed instructors right here in our state. The students take 7-9 classes over the course of one weekend at the historic jackson's mill in weston, wv. This allows students to dance alongside peers throught the state. This fosters unity in the wv dance community. At the festival, students also have the opportunity to audition for scholarships to prestigious summer programs and collegiate dance programs without having to leave wv to seek out these opportunities. The number of students has consistently grown, and we expect it to continue growing in the future. **covid prevented us from holding our festival in 2020. We resumed in 2021 with much lower numbers, but we hope our numbers go back to increasing once we're a little more removed from covid. In 2021, we added a 'state of dance' virtual event held on wv day. This event gave wv dance students the opportunity to learn a piece choreographed by a wv native who has achieved success in the dance world. This piece is performed and recorded amongst the beautiful wv landscapes and put together to create a virtual broadcast that is followed by a q&a session with our acclaimed choreographer.”
