Governance Explanations

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 11B

Our accounting firm prepares and delivers a draft of the form 990 to the executive director of our organization and it is available to all members of the board of directors for their review. Everyone is given time to review the draft form 990 and respond with their comments. After this period, all appropriate edits are made to the draft form 990. The final edited form 990 is then filed with the internal revenue service.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 12C

Annually all board members are provided with a copy of our organization's conflict of interest policy to read and review. All board members are required to disclose all current conflicts and any other conflicts as they arise. This way management and the board can monitor all conflicts and enforce the conflict of interest policy on a current basis.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 15A

The compensation of our organization's executive director is reviewed annually by the board of directors. The board reviews compensation data obtained from various sources on the internet, and comparing other executive director compensation in similar industries and budget size as reported on this organization's 990.

Form 990, Page 6, Part VI, Line 19

The organization will provide copies of governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements to the public upon request.

FORM 990 - ORGANIZATION'S MISSION

The organization is a philanthropic organization consisting of a diverse network of individuals who invest their time, expertise and capital in innovative non-profits serving at-risk youths in allegheny county, pa.

Form 990, Page 1, Part I, Line 6

Psvp is a volunteer organization. All partners (volunteers) share their personal and professional expertise with nonprofits who are engaged with psvp through its grant-making programs.

Form 990, Page 2, Part III, Line 4A

Partners to be actively engaged in programming throughout the entire year and amplifies amplified svp's impact, because we can worked on a deep and intensive level with 10-12 nonprofit organizations per yearin 2017,( versus 1 or 2 over a year in the old model). There was a culminating pitch event in dec. That coincided with the psvp partner annual meeting. The psvp partners' time and efforts coaching the nonprofits were entirely voluntary. We estimate that a minimum of 600 hours of partner time was donated at a conservatively estimated value of 50/hr or 30,000 of value added. Psvp staff organized the coaching teams, coordinated programming with the nonprofits and ran the workshops. A financial grant (2,000 - 2,500) was given to each nonprofit in each cohort at the culminating pitch event. The feedback we have received through surveys with the full circle nonprofits and partners who have been executive coaches has been overwhelmingly positive. The participating nonprofits credit the takeaways from the full circle program as key aids in gaining new funding, improving their messaging to the public and to their stakeholders, and improving their overall sustainability. While we have always received positive feedback on previous programming, we are now providing deeper involvement and developing skills to a wider range and more diverse set of organizations consistently each year. For the partners, the new program is significantly more engaging and thereby rewarding. The greater breadth of skill building (i.e., not just a pitch event but workshops on financial sustainability and resource mapping) allows more of our partners to use a broader set of their skills and experience. The workshop-style sessions give partners the opportunity to interact and connect with multiple nonprofits, and with each other. Overall, the partner base seems more invigorated and engaged with the nonprofits involved in full circle. Several partners have continued their work with their nonprofits after the program ended, for example joining the nonprofit's board or volunteering in other ways.

IRS990/Desc0FULL CIRCLE PROGRAM OUR NEW MODEL - FULL CIRCLE -- IS PITTSBURGH'S IMPACT ACCELERATOR FOR NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND HAS MET OR EXCEEDED OUR EXPECTATIONS FOR PROVIDING PARTNERS WITH MEANINGFUL OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK WITH AND SUPPORT NONPROFIT INNOVATION AND IMPACT. FULL CIRCLE ALSO EXPANDS OUR REACH TO MORE NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS SINCE WE RUN TWO COHORT GROUPS PER YEAR AS WE DID IN 2017. IN 2017, FULL CIRCLE NONPROFIT PARTICIPANTS ARE WERE PAIRED WITH TEAMS OF 5-6 SVP PARTNERS WHO SERVED AS EXECUTIVE COACHES, WORKING DIRECTLY WITH EACH NONPROFIT THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS. THIS ENABLED ALL MOST OF OF OUR SVP PARTNERS TO BE ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN PROGRAMMING THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR AND AMPLIFIES AMPLIFIED SVP'S IMPACT, BECAUSE WE CAN WORKED ON A DEEP AND INTENSIVE LEVEL WITH 10-12 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS PER YEARIN 2017,( VERSUS 1 OR 2 OVER A YEAR IN THE OLD MODEL).

IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt0THE ORGANIZATION IS A PHILANTHROPIC ORGANIZATION CONSISTING OF A DIVERSE NETWORK OF INDIVIDUALS WHO INVEST THEIR TIME, EXPERTISE AND CAPITAL IN INNOVATIVE NON-PROFITS SERVING AT-RISK YOUTHS IN ALLEGHENY COUNTY, PA.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt1PSVP IS A VOLUNTEER ORGANIZATION. ALL PARTNERS (VOLUNTEERS) SHARE THEIR PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL EXPERTISE WITH NONPROFITS WHO ARE ENGAGED WITH PSVP THROUGH ITS GRANT-MAKING PROGRAMS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt2PARTNERS TO BE ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN PROGRAMMING THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE YEAR AND AMPLIFIES AMPLIFIED SVP'S IMPACT, BECAUSE WE CAN WORKED ON A DEEP AND INTENSIVE LEVEL WITH 10-12 NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS PER YEARIN 2017,( VERSUS 1 OR 2 OVER A YEAR IN THE OLD MODEL).
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt3OUR ACCOUNTING FIRM PREPARES AND DELIVERS A DRAFT OF THE FORM 990 TO THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF OUR ORGANIZATION AND IT IS AVAILABLE TO ALL MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS FOR THEIR REVIEW.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt4ANNUALLY ALL BOARD MEMBERS ARE PROVIDED WITH A COPY OF OUR ORGANIZATION'S CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY TO READ AND REVIEW.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt5THE COMPENSATION OF OUR ORGANIZATION'S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IS REVIEWED ANNUALLY BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
IRS990ScheduleO/SupplementalInformationDetail/ExplanationTxt6THE ORGANIZATION WILL PROVIDE COPIES OF GOVERNING DOCUMENTS, CONFLICT OF INTEREST POLICY, AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS TO THE PUBLIC UPON REQUEST.
