Additional Explanations

Form 990, Part XII, Question 2

The audit committee has the responsibility of overseeing the selection of auditors, overseeing the audit, and meeting with the auditors at least two times per year. This process has not changed from the prior year.

Financial Statement Notes

PART X, LINE 2:

Mhy family services and mars home for youth foundation have each received determination letters from the internal revenue service stating that they are exempt from federal income tax under section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes is recorded in the consolidated financial statements. Accounting principles generally accepted in the united states of america require management to evaluate tax positions taken by the organization and recognize a tax liability (or asset) if the organization has taken an uncertain position that more likely than not would not be sustained upon examination by the irs. Management has analyzed the tax positions taken by the organization, and has concluded that, as of june 30, 2019 and 2018, there are no uncertain positions taken or expected to be taken that would require recognition of a liability (or asset) or disclosure in the consolidated financial statements. The organization is subject to routine audits by taxing jurisdictions; however, there are currently no audits for any tax periods in progress. Management believes that the organization is no longer subject to income tax examinations for tax years prior to 2016.
